How do you go about doing the quests in Skyrim (In what orde

Post » Fri Jan 04, 2013 4:53 pm

I 've just actually started my most recent save. She is a Norde Archer/Ranger. I have completed the first half and just accepted the "Way of the Voice".

However, I don't really want to touch the civil war quests and the MQ till the mid levels.

However, I am not sure where exactly I should begin.

I was actually thinking of starting with the Companions only cause I can become a Werewolf ASAP and not bother being bitten by a Vampire. Or what are the odds of being bitten by a vampire? On the other hand, i was hoping on completing the entire Dark Brotherhood quest chain and moving on to the Thieves and then the Companions.

How does everyone here go about doing the guild quests and other quests in Skyrim? Thanks.

Well I have a save right after the Oghram glitch so all my characters start at level 81 with full points (except for 30 into health which I can't change) so here is my path.

I immediately go and get alchemy gear and start making potions for about half an hour till I have about 50k in the bank, then I gear up and start the companion quests till I get werewolf for the disease prevention. This free's up a slot for other enchantments.

I then go build my house and have Lydia buy all my furnishings since that takes awhile. Next I go and kill Miraak because he tends to steal all my dragon souls.

After that I start roleplaying the character I made. I don't really do any quests anymore unless its a mage and I want some of the higher level spells.

Generally, most people don't complete all the quests on one playthrough or character. I tend to make a new character if I want to check out a guild that the previous character wouldn't do. I role-play a bit, and so don't like to do everything with one character. It just doesn't make sense role-playing wise for a thief to also be Companion, or an assassin.

When it comes to the Main Quest, I like to break it up at points and do other things before going back. Same for the Civil War quest. Don't just rush through it.

My final advice would be to create a backstory for your character, and to make other characters so as to do all the guilds, but not on one playthrough. You can easily do them all on the same character, but it is much more enjoyable to break it up among several character.

The way you play the game is cringe-worthy

Every one has different ways to play. I personally would never do that, but to each their own.

Oh I actually have a back story. However, I am basically planning on giving my character a chance to grow from being someone with no objectives and honor to someones that enjoys the finner things in Skyrim. So I was basically thinking of starting with the DB and the Thieves and then moving onto the Companions and finally accepting herself being the Dragonborn and fulling the prophecy in the Elder Scrolls.

But I just wasn't sure how annoying the Vampire attacks can get. Cause I don't really want to turn into a Vampire and I know Werewolves are resistant to all diseases.

I've ran about 40 characters from start till their 40's and I'm done with that early part of the game. I'm extremely enjoying just playing around with classes now. I make a new one every few days.

I've paid my dues,,,,now I'm retired and enjoying life :)

That's good. Kinda bad guy who's changes his/her colors to redeem herself? If I were you, I would start with Dawnguard. I haven't played it, so I'm not sure if that would fit into your plan. But it would get rid of the attacks either way I think.

My current playthrough:

After escaping Helgen, I make my way to Whiterun and do some bounty jobs till about level 8 then I go do Bleak Falls Barrow and kill the Dragon at the Western Tower. Upon being informed by the Greybeards that he is the Dragonborn of prophecy, S?ren will get freaked out and try run from his fate by joining the Dawnguard and getting involved in the Civil War (only about half way through that questline though). Upon completing Dawnguard, he is ready to accept his destiny and begin the main questline in earnest. I have not yet decided if I will complete the MQ before starting Dragonborn. Kind of depend on how the narrative flow of the game is going.

I will finish the Civil War upon completion of the MQ.

Sounds really interesting. I am following a very similar play path. Basically she has a hard time understanding what being a Dragornborn means. Also she is making her way home to Skyrim after years of being away. So things have changed and she is still trying to find her footing in this new land. So early on she basically spends her time doing the odd jobs and side quests to support herself. I am going to be doing the Civil War at the very last. But I really like that idea of completing Dawnguard and then accepting his destiny.

@ BTCollins8. Thank you. I was hoping to save Dawnguard for after I am done with Alduin. Then probably completing the civil war after doing the Dawnguard quests if I don't pick up Dragonborn in time.

You're welcome. Also, I wouldn't rush through any of the questlines, as some of them are already rushed as is. Supplement some side quests in their and enjoy the experience. Lastly...have fun!
