Why do we always start off as a prisioner.

Post » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:37 pm

What I find interesting is that the last 3 Elder Scroll games your character starts out as a prisoner of some sort. I would like to see you start out as an honest citizen for a change or based on choices made by the player when creating the character instead of always being a prisoner.

I would also like to have the option to turn off the gore or at least to tone it down in some way.

Thanks.

I think it ok, you're able to make a story for yourself.

I like starting as a prisoner. It doesn't affect the rest of the game in any way and it's a sort of a TES tradition, Daggerfall notwithstanding.

Make your own Background + Story! Nothing wrong with that.

It's just how they've always started. No one knows why you were imprisoned, so for all they know you could have been an honest citizen who was falsely accused of something.

I always think of the whole prison thing as a preset anyway. It's not like the lore ever mentions our heroes starting off as a prisoner, so you can make up your own starting point for your character's story if you wanted to.

It's a convenient way of inserting you into the story.

I don't know, invent a excuse on how you ended up being busted. Like you were selling phony sweetrolls or something.
