I want to make a custom armor set for my female character that was unique, lore friendly, and does not show excessive skin like any of the armor mods I was able to find out there. I want to combine the master mage robes with the thieves guild Karliah armor in a way that shows the torso parts and shoulders of the karliah armor, and the arms and legs of the master armor, sort of like my character wearing the leather armor over her robes. I'm having a hard time finding a tutorial on how to do this, and know that it's possible because i've downloaded mods that utilize this to make custom mix and match armors.

Is there an online tutorial out there to get me moving in the right direction?

Can someone tell me how to basically 'hide' the arm and leg parts of the karliah armor, and hide the torso parts of the master mage robes? If i'm successful at figuring this out, i'll release it for download on the Nexus or wherever. I feel like if someone were to help me get the ball rolling that i'd be able to start making some great looking armor sets for everyone!
