Is it worth keeping?

I've been thinking about this more and more lately. Due to some really stupid console problems that resulted in me needing to send the stupid thing in twice in a row, I lost the contents of the profiles, had to redownload them; however, the one time I did a license xfer, not only did that NOT work, I had to send the stupid thing in AGAIN (after having just gotten it back), and come to find out, have to wait ANOTHER 6 months to do another xfer. So, needless to say, I'm irked about that. So, I dl'd the 2 DLCs (Hearth being on one profile, DG being on the other), and decided afterwards to get DB (which shows up on both profiles, yay).

Loved DB, tickled pink about going back to Solstheim (although its a lot smaller than I remember, and not just because of game timeline of the Red Mountain blowing), love the new armor and weapons.

But I got bored one day, switched to the other profile (the one with Hearth on it), and realized something: I was HAPPY I didn't have to choose my "landing" zone carefully (ie, I didn't need to fast travel to an area near the city). Why, you may ask? BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ASNINE VAMPIRE ATTACKS KILLING NPCS.

That is a HUGE problem for me, finding out that not just random NPCs, but VENDORS, and sometimes even QUEST GIVERS end up dying, which means the "potion of strength" I just used to get my heavy [censored] to a city to sell my junk was wasted because the vendor I needed was killed. Or, worse yet, in Windhelm, MY FENCE WAS KILLED... And I wasn't even THERE, but the "Ash Pile" nearby (which STILL hasn't gone away, nor has the fence's body) tells me it was a vampire attack.

And it got me thinking: is it even worthwhile to keep onto Dawnguard?

I've had a hard time deciding this, because there are many factors of the DLC that I enjoy: the lovely new scenery, the awesome Artifact, and the fact that I can make arrows now, and dragonbone weapons. I'm especially still in awe of Ancestor Glade, as being the MOST beautiful spot of the DLC, of ALL the DLC's thus far; even the Forgotten Vale isn't as lovely (and all that snow gives me a headache after a while).

But my biggest irk of the whole thing is the random vampire attacks, which do NOT stop even after you deal with the big bad guy at the end (won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't played it yet, although no doubt it already has been), even though the attacks are supposed to stop after that. I get sick and tired of walking into a city (usually Riften) and finding that my vendors are dead (shouldn't they be "Protected" anyways?) and quest givers (shouldn't they also be "Protected"?) are dead from the random attacks. I think it was seeing my fence in Windhelm DEAD that really tipped the scales for me; I don't find those to be "exciting", I find them to be such an irratation and always have.

But I have to ask myself if its worth getting rid of it in order to keep the suprisingly unProtected vendors and quest givers alive. I have, in fact, leveled my Smithing because of making Dwarven arrows constantly (because thats by far the easiest "metal" to get), and I do love the dragonbone weapons. And I wanted to know what others thought, if its worth keeping on to.

Or perhaps bethesda should get off their lazy bums and FIX the vendor problem by making them (and most quest givers) Protected; or, at least, make the Givers "Protected" before and during a quest, unless they have multiple quests they give. Same for the 6 fences you pick up through the Thieves Guild quests; it is highly annoying to find out one is dead, after having spent the time going to that city to sell your illegal goods.

Bethesda: you've done a pretty decent job at making these DLC's, BUT WOULD YOU MIND FIXING WHAT YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU RUSH OUT AND TRY TO MAKE YET ANOTHER HEAVILY BUGGED AND GLITCHED DLC? Thanks...
