Gaming Moments That Just Made You Stop Playing

Post » Sat Jan 12, 2013 8:31 am

Any moments in a game that when it happened you just gave up on said game and either didn't play it again for a long time or got rid of it?

I was a big fan of the Final Fantasy series and especially loved Final Fantasy Tactics. When I bought Tactics Advance for the GBA SP, I was happy but also kind of let down. Then I got to a point in the story where one of the main characters was staying in the fantasy world because her hair was pink instead of white. At that point I turned off my GBA SP, took out the game and traded it into GameStop the next day. Was just so let down by how child like the story was compared to the original Tactics.

When Skyrim was released, there were certain aspects of the game that were quest locked, and there were some dungeons that were apparently quest related. Clear it before the quest and you are screwed. First time in a TES game that I was actually cautious on what to explore

One of those moments were in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, when I thought the story went bonkers.
Spoiler
The whole universe as you know it, is all a MMO!
Story being boring is probably my main reason for me to stop playing a game, happened with plenty of other games too like Final Fantasy X and Demon's Souls (played it for ~30 hours and barely anything story-related happened or gave the NPCs new dialogue).

Hmm, I know I've done this at least once or twice, let me think about it.

The most recent time I did this was after I finished the first mission in MW3. It completely failed to deliver any interesting or defining moments, and I just wasn't willing to see if the other missions would, so I just quit right there and never picked it up again.

Also Call of Duty getting utterly dominated. Then coming back months later and picking it up again.
