Dark Souls from a TES player's perspective

So my friend talked me into picking up Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition during the last steam sale and I've played a little bit of it and would like to get some of your thoughts on the game.

I think the graphics are pretty nice in Dark Souls, even for a console port. People had been raving about how this game doesn't run well, but I was able to play (even with the 30 FPS cap) very smoothly on my gaming laptop.

I only bring this up because Dark Souls really reminded me of the pre-Oblivion days of the Elder Scrolls where there wasn't so much hand holding. Dark Souls kinda throws you out into the game world and you fend for yourself. Morrowind was kind of that way too... you weren't always sure where you were supposed to go or what you were supposed to be doing... Dark Souls kinda feels that way.

What do you guys/gals think of Dark Souls?
