Secret Societies WW1

One of the most interesting comments made by the late Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Emperor of Germany, cousin to King George V and Tsar Nicholas II, was that World War 1 was orchestrated by unseen forces, specifically a group within the Freemason sect.

I've tried to research this into more depth, but it's very difficult to find anything besides his one quote found in his memoirs. I just find it peculiar that an Emperor would make such a claim, in a time when the idea was very remote aside from a few particular sources written centuries by Edmund Burke.

He was a very impulsive Emperor and hot-headed by most scholarly accounts, but he was an educated, well-learned, very smart man.

This is at most a speculation thread because there is no evidence, and not much besides what is found in his memoirs.

The Scottish scientist, John Robinson, also made a similar accusation in his work: Proofs of Conspiracy.
