Start Linux and then start Windows through it

Is this possible at all? I really love the speed of Linux for simpler tasks such as web-browsing, but still need Windows for its fantastic software library. Is it possible to have my computer start Linux when turned on and, by clicking a button somewhere on the OS like a shortcut on the desktop, have it then boot Windows. I remember reading this somewhere is all and it seems cool.

I did this with my mac by using Apple Script Editor and just writing a script to change partitions. It's quite nifty to have. I wouldn't know how to do it with linux, but I'm sure there's a guide or premade script online somewhere. Alternatively there's parallels.

VirtualBox, IIRC.

Or you could do what I did and simply install both OS's on different partitions and picking which to load on booting up.
