Post Your Pet-Peeves - Thread #2

Apparently we're still following the archaic tradition of locking threads at 200 posts, for reasons I can't comprehend in this day and age of faster servers and better forum software, but better start a new thread in case some people still have something to say on the subject.

Disclaimer: This thread is NOT for bashing anything or anyone in particular. Take a general approach. Don't name anything, don't link to anything, and definitely never insult anyone or their work, or the people who like it. Just don't.

We have thousands upon thousands of mods to choose from. Ability to pick and choose your favourite mods to customize and enhance your personal experience is what keeps Skyrim alive today, just as it has done with Morrowind for over ten years now.

But are there any unfortunate trends in the modding community that annoy you for one reason or another? Is it the hundreds of ENB-presets? Ever growing, cluttered list of craftables? Plastic looking anime hairs?Tell us!

I'd hope that this will actually lead to some constructive discussion on things like technical limitations and mentalities behind some of the trends. Or perhaps the thread will just die without anyone ever reading it. We'll see.

Here are some of my thoughts.

1). Shortage of functional female armour and respectable fashion
Not only I wish that mod authors would more often stop and ask themselves: "Would I wear this in a medieval sub-arctic land if I was a female?" and "Exactly how much protection does this armour provide if it leaves heart and lungs exposed in favour of displaying the mammal glands?", but also that those people who have the talent would step up and create armours and clothes that look practical and functional.
I get it that many people, especially those with Y-chromosome, are drawn to revealing outfits, and I'm sure there are some to who it's just a preferred aesthethic choice for their sword & sorcery fantasy, but I'm frustrated by the limited choices for alternatives.

2). Swords without scabbards
A relatively minor thing, but how much extra effort does it actually take to add a scabbard for a sword? Surely protecting your weapon from the elements is important?

3). Weapons that lack metallic shine.
I get it that Skyrim's lightning is pretty bad and the game goes artistically for a dull, grey and dirty in everything from potatoes to axes, and that a mirror-like polish is not necessarily realistic either, but I can't imagine how much dried blood and grime you'd have to get on your weapon for it to lose all it's shine.
Personally I've 'fixed' my favourite weapons with Nifskope tinkering, but why do we have this? Is Skyrim's approach actually realistic and it's just a property of wrought iron and cheap steel, and I'm just being blinded by Hollywood standards?

4). Configuration items
I've always been annoyed by mods that add items to your inventory as shortcuts for their options menus. Depending on your mod setup they have a tendency to pile up, and being undroppable just clutter your inventory. Now that MCM has arrived to Skyrim with SkyUI 3, we'll hopefully see the end of them.

There, I've told you my pet-peeves, now tell me yours?
