Are enchantments really worth it?

Post » Wed Jan 16, 2013 6:19 am

So im using maces this save and was wondering if there is a way for enchantments to last longer without being stupid weak, so my question is should I even put them on?
Edit: I know someone will do this so, I know enchantments on armor are necessary but im asking about weapons

Enchantment power is greatly dependent on your level in enchanting. It's worth about as much as the investment you put into it.

Not really.

Unless your a magic user, i dont see any enchants as necessary. I also hate the charges on weapon enchants. the constant recharging is just awful and annoying. I just stick to blacksmithing now for non magic users, increased armor and weapon damage is good enough.

If you are a magic user on the other hand, then enchanting is really useful to lower magicka costs.

200 base damage plus 30 Ice and 30 Fire damage. All this from an iron mace. So, is it worth it? EDIT missed the part about armor enchantments. This really only doable with heavy smithing and/or fortify one handed enchantments. But, 60 extra damage, or 30 and Soul Trap, isn't something to take lightly.

Well, in that case, in my personal opinion, the extra damage here and there, and crafting specialty armor for specific occasions makes it all the more worth it. So it's really the worth you make of it.

Yes, since you can lower the amount of soul gems dramatically by using Black Soul gems

. What else were you going to with them? Especially if you have Azura's Star.

Black Soul Gems capture the spirits of Humanoid entities, which are all considered Grand Scale.
Grand souls are more powerful, and yield better results.

Black Soul gems are the equivalent to Grand Soul gems, except they hold a soul of a man/mer/beast/dremora lord. They fill items up extremely well, and are easier to come by if you invade necromancer caves, or get Azura's Black Star

It's not like we can tell you what you can and cannot do, so...Go forward, and make shiny pants.

I thought that was the point of these forums? Was to tell people that they are wrong, that they play the game wrong, and that their opinions are irrelevant? [/sarcasm]

You need to scale back the effects you are adding to your weapons if you think the charges go too quickly. Enchanting + Smithing and there are literally no weapons in the game world that can come close to what you make yourself.
