The Dark Brotherhood, civil war and a Breton...

Post » Sun Jan 20, 2013 10:55 am

Hey! I want to start out by saying that I have recently become more and more intrested in the world of Skyrim and TES lore in general.
My first TES game was Oblivon and I bought Skyrim like a year ago but its not until recently I have really come to love the world
of TES.

Iam currently having great fun on my new skyrim playthrough, so Im playing a female Breton Assassin/Nightblade character and
right now Iam doing the Dark Brotherhood questline and after that Im thinking of doing the Main questline or the Civil War quests... BUT
like many others Im having a hard time choosing a side this time, loyal to the empire or the stormcloaks?

About joining the Stormcloaks: At one point I was ready to side with the Stormcloaks but what real reasons would a Breton have to side with them other then that they share a common enemy because the Empire was about to cut your head off. But things like the Fornsworn conflict would make it hard for Nords to accept a Breton war hero on their side? I think the Bretons of High Rick seem to be very diffrent from the Forsworn they are still Bretons?

About joining the Empire: So what I have understood by reading about the lore is that the general Breton have a positive view of the Empire and High Rock have always been a loyal part of the Empire. It seems to be a pretty natural choice for any Breton to support the Empire in the conflict. The only problem Im having with this is that my Assassin/Nightblade Breton is the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, she is the one who in the end kills the Emperor himself, this is what makes joining the Empire side so diffucult.

I just need some advice here and diffrent point of veiws and I would be most grateful! :D

Well I used to have this same issue, but then my friend said something that made perfect sense. He said "The thoughts of individuals overwrite what the general populace thinks." Your Breton doesn't necessarily have to like the Empire, mine doesn't.

Breton,Orc,Argoninan,Imperial-Empire
Nords(They could go either way really)-Stormcloaks
Altmer-Either Way
Khajiit-Either Way(Leaning towards the Empire)
Neutrals-Bosmer,Dunmer
Atleast this is how I see it......
I normally never do the civil war quests as I always do the Dark Brotherhood questline.
