Marise Aravel doesn't know what she's talking about?

Post » Sun Jan 20, 2013 2:20 pm

This has been bothering me for a while, even though it's only a minor thing.

Marise Aravel is a dunmer food trader in Riften, she stands just outside the market circle next to her cart. She has three lines she will repeat throughout the day:

"Vegetables as crisp as a winter's morning!"
"Fresh meats and produce! Get them before they're gone!"
"All meats guaranteed clean and free from Rockjoint!"

What bothers me is the last one, about Rockjoint. What she says is "All meats guaranteed clean and free. From Rockjoint!" instead of "All meats guaranteed clean and free from Rockjoint!"

The way she emphasizes "from Rockjoint" sounds like the voice actor thinks Rockjoint is the place the meat came from, instead of the meat being free from the disease Rockjoint. It truly sounds like Bethesda just gave the VA some lines to read out loud instead of explaining to her what Rockjoint actually is. Like I said, it's only a minor thing, but it breaks immersion for me. It's one of these "Oh yeah that's right. I'm playing a game and here is some crappy voice work to remind me" moments, instead of being immersed in the world of TES.

I was curious what you think. I can't be the only one to be bothered with little things like this.

Perhaps she aimed to be a lil sarcastic about it... like in the lines if she would say: "All meats guaranteed clean and free...free from Rockjoint! lmao"

That seems like the wise thing to do. Too bad Carlotta's daughter is so annoying.

"I work with my mother to sell fruits and vegetables! It's fun mo-"
I KNOW. You told me a million times before. D:
