What Skyrim needs improvement on (AI Edition!)

So, as a follow-up to my first "What Skyrim needs improvement on" I had a fellow mention how the AI in the game was lacking, and so here I am to tackle the issue head on with which aspects needs improvement on. As always, I encourage everyone to pitch in anything you have to say on the topic.

So here we go, Skyrims AI.

So in the past few games combat has been relatively simple, and has seen some improvement, along with the nature of how AI behaves. In Oblivion, we got a major overhaul: The Radiant AI system!

Now, this is actually a cool freaking system. It gives NPCs a schedule of activities to follow and breathes life into most of the towns. Pretty cool right? So of course in the sequel, Skyrim, we also so the radient AI in place. And for the most part, it works well enough.

But when you compare those complexities to enemy AI? They can't hold a candle.

Enemy AI in the game only have a few major behaviors in combat, namely: Attacking you non-stop (even if you killed all of their fellows in front of them) and running away when low on health or under the fear effect (rarely used).

The worst offense is that enemy AI as a unit, fails miserably. They have no team oriented tactics to speak of. Hell, most mages and archers tend to hit their allies about as often as hitting me! Sure it's funny as hell, but it doesn't make combat as interesting as it could be.

Possible Behaviors like mages using healing and buffing spells on allies, or archers running to keep a distance away from you, or a pack of wolves actually surrounding you to take you down like a real pack would. Something, anything would be better than 5 people trying to kill you individually, rather than as a unit.

All of these could really help enemy AI feel more competent and challenging then they currently are. So let me know what you guys think below and we can discuss how we can have Bethesda address this issue in the future!

The level design is also bad.. Which makes the AI not work well.. Hope they do a similar system to that of Dishonored in the future..
