What's the strongest I can create FORTIFY ENCHANTING potions

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 1:11 am

I've made some Fortify Enchanting potions that increase enchantments to 28% and when I tried to go beyond that, I couldn't. I'm on PC. Did a patch change this because I was following guides that suggested you could go from 28% to 32%...

I've gotten as high as 37%.

I have my alchemy skills maxed out and all the perks other than the poison perks picked. I also have enchanted leather bracers, falmer helmet, gold diamond ring, gold diamond necklace and gold diamond circlet that are all enchanted with 29% alchemy boost. All together, it allows me to create fortify enchanting potions with 37% strength. I can also created Fortify Smithing potions with 146% strength.

There may be people who have figured out how to do better; if so, I'd love to learn their techniques.

So does having 100 alchemy mean you'll make better potions???

My alchemy is at 80 and I have 5/5 alchemist perks so that potions I make are twice as strong. Then I have the benefactor perk that gives me an additional 25%. The other perks don't say anything about making potions better. So does merely having 100 alchemy improve the potions you can make or not? Because I've read it doesn't.

I maxed alchemy and almost the entire perk tree (just skipping the poison bonuses.) That, combined with the alchemy - enchanted apparel, allows me to make 37% fortify enchantment potions.
The falmer helmet is key - you can wear a circlet with it at the same time. Can't do that with other helmets.

Note that the fortify alchemy potion does not work as you would expect. +25% is maximum for skill enchants without potion +29 with the +37% potion.
Damage enchant is +40% without potion and +48% with.
Now this is an 20% increase not an 37% increase. You would expect an +54% damage enchant so I guess it only add the potion effect to the base skill and not the perks.

I know you're trying to help but that reads of total nonsense to me. Am I just too stupid?

Download cloaks of skyrim. You'll have an extra enchantable wearable item.

Technically.... you can go much much higher. Necromages benefit from a +25% effect to all enchants so you can continue the alchemy enchant loop for longer.

Using the restoration glitch... well it allows you to make potions that boost alchemy by tens to hundreds of thousands of percents.

Without those it is around 37-38%.

Well i just love enchanting in skyrim... i think it really brings something more to the game, something that i haven't seen so far in a videogame. To maximize whatever you want (two-handed, one-handed) and offers alot of possibilities, just love it.

My example is that i play one-handed w\shield, and so far been spending some perks with one-handed, and i've enchanted a ring w\ 39% plus of one-handed damage. So because of that, i'm doing right now with my Daedric Sword 154pts of DAMAGE... i can take Draugrs and other beasts with on blow only  (depends on the type of enemy)
If i enchanted a necklace and gauntlets in addition to make more one-handed damage, we could only imagine the results lol. I dont do it because i prefer the nightingale gloves and the Galduur Necklace.

Now i have 95 of Enchanting but i've not spend all my perks on it, so i know i'll probably make better enchantments later for sure, and exploiting more of the potential of it's results.

Peace

Well, whatever. Even with Alchemy at 101 I can create only fortify enchanting potions that improve enchanting by 30% and combined with 101 Enchanting can enchant no basic gear - ie, helm, gauntlet, necklace, ring - with anything greater than a 25% boost to alchemy.

^ With a falmer hat? Because like I say my alchemy is level 101 as is my enchanting. I cannot enchant basic gear anywhere above a 25% boost in Alchemy. Using those items enchanted with 25% alchemy I can make an enchantment potion worth only 30% which still only produces alchemy gear capable of a 25% boost. I don't have a falmer helmet to increase it anymore than that and I fail to see what else I'm supposed to do if I'm somehow missing 2%.

First you need a 100 skill in alchemy, second you will need the 5 alchemist perks and then that one perk that gives +25% greater magnitude to positive potions, then make 4 enchantments with 25% boost to alchemy, make an enchanting potion, make 4 new alchemy enchantments with your new enchanting potion, your enchantments should be around 29-28 % boost to alchemy per enchantment, then craft a potion and now you have 32% enchanting potion.

Btw, I have no idea what this Falmer hat business your talking about.

That's the exact process I followed and could not enchant anything greater than a 25% boost to alchemy. Tried it three times.

There was a small oversight by Bethesda, you can also wear a Falmer Helmet with the Circlet.

So its: Ring, Necklace, Gloves/Braces, Circlet, AND Falmer Helm. You can replace the Falmer Helm with a Penitus Oculatus Helm.

I figured out my problem. Not surprisingly it was totally my fault. All this time I was under the assumption I'd maxed the enchanting skill all up the middle but I inspected it and found only 4/5 on the "Enchanter" perk. Stupid me. All is good with the world again and my armour is marginally better.
