Lighting Issue?

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 2:12 pm

So, I've noticed when creating interiors that there is a light coming from an unknown source that shines on all the walls that are facing North or something .(not 100% sure of the direction but I think that's correct) It looks like this: http://www.mediafire.com/conv/1e9c9f511a3143b9be3c0111560cf44a3277d1805cf97b4142edd74d73f964066g.jpg
Does anyone know where this light is coming from or if there's anyway to disable it?

1. Does it look like that in game? (there's a couple of Lighting Settings in the CK that change how things LOOK in the CK) ... http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_Lights_and_FX (have a good read, it tells you lots more than you might expect)

2. Have you added any Light-Objects to your rooms/dungeon?

3. You may also need to read this: http://www.creationkit.com/ImageSpace and this: http://www.creationkit.com/ImageSpace_Modifier

I read the links but nothing seems to solve the problem, and to answer your question, I don't have any lights in the cell.

Working With Lights

(read that bit ^^^^ thoroughly ... Make sure you've click the relevant toolbar buttons ... By default the CK sort of works in "daylight", not with any lights setup)

And note the implication in that ... you must ADD your own lights if you want lighting effects ;)

Did you duplicate an existing cell? Maybe there is a light you forgot to delete? Make sure, light-markers are shown ("M" key.)

Yeah I read it, but nothing in there got rid of the mysterious light, I'm not new to the CK or anything I'm pretty experienced with it and I know most of the hot-keys and settings so it's not something small like an having sky toggled, imagespace issue, etc.

"you must ADD your own lights if you want lighting effects  "

The problem isn't adding lighting effects it's removing the unwanted one.

Yeah I made sure there were no lights in the cell.

Are you experiencing this issue only in the CK or in game as well? Unless the toggles are correct, you will see odd (non-game) lighting in the CK.

Without placed lights you are going to be relying on whatever the settings are in the ImageSpace malarky ... Numerous people have had issues getting a dungeon to be "pitch black" for similar reasons.

Yeah it did appear in-game, it was actually worse in-game. I think it might just be a bug with the cell because I don't experience this lighting issue with every interior just every now and then I'll make an interior and the light effect will be there. I'll try deleting the cell and making a new again,

Yeah, I guess it was an issue with the cell, I duplicated another cell and there was no lighting effect. Thanks for the help though.

Strange, I've not experienced a bug like that (but we seem to be swamped in bugs or potential bugs at the moment, so it wouldn't be a surprise!)

As far as I know, if you have no placed-lights, then only the ImageSpace stuff is lighting your interior ... And it can be difficult/challenging to edit ImageSpace stuff to exactly what you want.

Best of luck, hope a cell-rebuild works out for you

Yeah my skyrim data folder is notorious for having problems, I've re-installed Skyrim 20 times now because of various bugs and glitches (3 of which may have been my fault).
