For example, the Totems of Hircine book says the following about Lycanthropic abilities:
Through these totems, we channel and focus our energies of the beast. While werewolves give up the powers of magic known to men, we can tap into a more direct natural energy at times, and through these totems, discover the abilities that first tamed the world before wrought civilization sullied it.
So from that, we understand werewolves are given supernatural powers in their lupine form. Now what about Vampire Lords? Is it a pureblooded and a half-blood power only? Considering they can openly pick up people using the "Blood Force" or as we know it "Blood Magic" abilities and seemingly choke them from a distance, it is completely restricted to the Vampire Lord form.
"The power of the ancient blood is found in the form of the Vampire Lord. You can wield the power of Blood Magic to raise the dead. You can also call on the power of Night, to turn into a swarm of bats and appear some distance away. Should you run out of magicka, you can descend to the ground and fight as the beasts do"-Harkon
Wait, so are we dealing with magicka or some Daedric-given power from Molag Bal? That part had me confused. In any case, how long has the use of Blood Magic and Night power been in place? The totems of Hircine were given to man in the Dawn era, when no one knew how to even write or speak or think properly.
