Dawnguard bug. The very start.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums and I singed up for the open xbox beta awhile ago, and I just downloaded the dlc. So I start up the game; with the only character I have. So I'm at the Pale or Dawnstar. (Where I last left off.) I think it was kinda ironic; both having the word dawn in their names. So I exit the inn and out of no where. Vampires start to attack; assuming that it was past 8 o' clock at night. So I eliminate them with a group of civilians, and a Dawnguard; I guess "dawnguard officer/recruiter" was in town and told me about the Dawnguard. (Or it could have been one of the town guards.) That's when I get the option to do the first Dawnguard quest.

So I headed my may towards the path towards the Daylight Cavern. (I think that's what it's called. The cave that leads the Dawngaurd Keep.)

NOTE: I ran into a horse like 50 kilometers East from the cave with the option to steal. I did kill a random killer on the road but no innocent victim near the horse.

Inside the cave, I approach the man walking up the road and starts to attack me for no reason. I ran from him, not attacking, and everyone in the vicinity gangs up on me. Even the person whom I suppose to talk to attacks me.

So I'm thinking this isn't supposed to happen so I can't start up the quest right.

NOTE: I'm not a vampire, but I did try my hardest to be. I'm not a werewolf either. I am clean.
NOTE: I re-downloaded the dlc on a different xbox and load up the same save files. Same problem.

I'm thinking of starting up a new game and see what happens. I'm also going to delete the DLC 1st before I begin a new.

If this was already covered. My apologies I've search for a good while and nothing popped up.

Unfortunately, this game does include a lot of game breaking bugs. I've never hear of this exact problem, but I do know that Dawnguard NPCs have this annoying habit of randomly attacking you for no apparent reason. I can't point to why this happens, as my experience with it thus far seems to indicate it is completely random (hence for no reason). I'm sorry to hear you are having problems, but be take encouragement in the fact that we all are. I just hope the character who is bugged isn't one you've spent 60+ hours with, like me.

Hi, you know I just finished DG a few days ago & already I don't know what you're talking about. The only random people who attacked me early on, and later on, were vampire initiates.

As for that horse by himself, that has nothing to do with DG. I've encountered him during my PS3 play through months ago & a couple times on my Xbox. I just leave him alone.

Did you try restarting the game before you load a save file Lovelessness?

This exact thing happened to a lot of people. I started off in Riften, and no matter how many times I reloaded, changed times of day, etc, I lost a lot of people in the town. According to some of the beta testers, the attacks are not a glitch, but a design element or some [censored]. A bad decision if you ask me. As far as heading for the quest, the same thing happened to me. Everyone attacked me including the guy(forgot the name) you were headed to speak to. Eventually I had to reload a save from somewhere outside of a town, and then head to Fort Dawnguard without stopping in at a town at all. That fixed THAT issue. However you have to be very careful that you dont kill anyone on the way there, as this dlc(and the game entirely) are fickle as hell. This is just the beginning of the bugs. Hopefully you can progress through, as many cant. Good luck.
