Unable to "find" Ice water jetty thus unable to ente

Post » Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:13 pm

Have run into a problem with Dawnguard that is preventing me from being able to access the castle with Serana.

When I arrive upon the boat at Icewater Jetty, the waymarker arrow never disappears. I can take the boat to the castle, but when running up the ramp to the castle doors, the Icewater waymarker turns blue and there is still a white marker in the boat as if I have never discovered it.

I have cleared my cache.
I have deleted all unnecessary saved games.
I am level 60 - something
I have no other "active" quests

This happened to me at an earlier save in the game around level 40 something so I went back to an earlier (waaaaaaaay earlier) save to start over hoping it would fix it.

Has this happend to any of you? Are there any workarounds or ways to fix it? Uninstalling and reinstalling Dawnguard is NOT an option as I have four other profiles (i.e., active games) on the xbox where Dawnguard was no problem. Dont want to uninstall, then reinstall as it wil ruin games on other profiles.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you talk to Serena first, or just jump in the boat. I don't remember if I had to talk to her first or not.

Also, can you go in the castle? Is Serena with you? If so, then just carry on and don't worry about the marker.

Another thing you can try is to go another cell, save the game, exit out, reboot everything, then load it up. It could be the cell just did not render correctly.

I made sure to talk to Serana before jumping into the boat.

Also, I am unable to enter the castle. The old dude who watches the gate, opens the gate for us, but when I try to enter the castle doors, it just "clicks" but nothing happens.

When you say go to another cell, do you mean like fast traveling all the way somewhere like Riften or Shors stone, then saving, shutting down everything then try it again?

I still have a save that is two levels earlier and well before I started Dawnguard. I'll start from there again to see what happens. Third time is the charm.

Im wondering, if I uninstall Dawnguard, then reinstall it, shouldnt it NOT affect any of the saves I currently have with my other profiles? It seems that if I uninstall it, the reinstall it before going back to any saves on those other profiles, nothing should be effected. This may be my only hope for saluaging this game.

I did have one old save that ended up working. So I had to go all the way back to before I started and comleted the Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Civil War questlines. UGH.

Other than finally being able to join the Dawnguard with the first and only 2 hand warrior I've ever created, the best thing is that I get to go back before I adopted kids. Nothing worse than hearing "Papa, you're home" when playing a video game.
