I was hoping to start a discussion that anyone may join in on (creators and users alike) in the hopes that I can iron out a solid plan for the release and updating of Falskaar. A few concerns of mine to kick off discussion:
Releasing-
- Has anything in this area changed since Fallout? What should I keep in mind and note? Where should I upload, how many places do you guys think I should upload? I currently plan to do the Nexus, of course, and I'm trying to decide on what alternate sites to do. I want to upload to multiple sites, but not so many that it's a huge task to upload or update the mod and manage it.
- What are good sites to release on? I'm aware of Nexus, TESA, Dark Creations, and ModDB.
- What format should I release the mod in? This is going to be a very large mod. I had planned on packing everything up into a BSA. The mod download would contain the BSA, the ESM, a few video Binks, and a readme. Are there any problems with this or things I should know?
Updating-
- How has updating changed since Fallout? In Fallout, you simply copied over a new esp/esm and the changes were made. In Skyrim, with the new scripting system and the addition of module save based data (Or whatever you would call it) how has updating been changed? What new steps do I need to take when hoping to release an update?
- How should I update the mod? Should I just release an updated ESM/BSA/Etc? Should I do it Beth style and have a small Update ESM and BSA? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both of these things? What problems should I be aware of with either method? The mod could potentially be upwards of 500+MB when it's completed, so a smaller update file would save the user a very large download, but is it better?
I'm hoping this will spark a very educational and informative discussion that I can look back on in the final days before release. Or it may just die out. We'll see.

Thanks,
