PC Shutdown

So I will start this by saying I know this isn't a hardware issue. So I won't even bother list my spec's. I have already played on this system perfectly fine.

So here is my story. I got the game for christmas over a year ago. I downloaded the game perfectly fine and played it perfectly fine up to level 7. I got busy with other games and just kind of stopped playing. I decided to start back up play a couple days ago. At first my computer would completely turn off when my character opened the map and moved the map down. It happened 7 times in a row so I know that was the cause. If I didn't open my map I could run around and play fine. So I researched fixes and ended up just reinstalling the game. The past two days I played fine after reinstalling on that character.

So this morning I got on and decided to try a different character to try a different play style. I hit the "New" button and then pressed "Yes" to confirm that I am sure I want to create a new character. Then my computer just turns off. Completely powered down. No errors. Nothing. So I research new fixes. I tried deleting my skyrimpreps.ini and skyrim.ini and that didnt work. I tried running the game in windows just for the hell of it, that didn't work either. I reinstalled the game. Still no luck. I can't find any information on this particular problem. If anyone knows anything about this problem then I appreciate the help. Thanks.

It your machine is completely powering itself off, it IS a hardware issue. The worst that should happen with a software problem is, the game should just exit to desktop.

Make sure all your fans are running, and that your heatsinks aren't choked with dust.

I am always monitoring the temperature of my PC and it does not overheat. I play on my other save perfectly fine. I am currently playing on it as we speak. My computer has never done this for any other game even ones that are more resource heavy. It doesn't occur anywhere else in this game that I have found except for when I hit that specific button. If my PC was overheating it wouldn't be after I hit one certain button on the game. It would be at random points when it gets to hot. I have played the game fine on my other save for 17 hours so far without experiencing this problem. But as soon as I hit the "New" button and then "Yes" it does it. I highly doubt it is my hardware. And if it is, it isn't a heat problem.

And you took the sides of your PC case off and blew out the dust just to be sure? In the 20 minutes it took you to respond to the post?

Because, if it is not heat causing the shutdowns, then it is your power supply going bad.

Well, I have software that moderates my temperatures. I am also running on a laptop so it isn't as easy as taking the side off. I would rather not have to take the thing apart as I am not experienced with that. Especially if I don't know for a fact that it is overheating.

I am going to try to log my temperature and recreate the issue. See what my temperature is the second it crashes.

I just logged the temperature and it only went up 2-4 degree's from just normal idle temperature right before the shutdown.

If it's a laptop, you may have to take it to a shop to figure out what's going wrong. Unless you know exactly what you're doing, do not try to take the machine apart. Taking apart (and reassembling) a laptop is not something for an inexperienced person to try.
