I am creating a redguard warrior and would like to know what would be a better fit for him, light armor or heavy armor?

Redguards don't have a skill bonus in either, so it is more personal preference than anything.

In game they use Alik'r clothing. I'm guessing one would use Light Armor and Alteration.

It depends on which you'd prefer.

I've always thought of Redguards as heavy armor types. They're never really depicted as favoring one style over the other. But if you're going for a more traditional redguard, one who isn't used to culture outside of Hammerfell, I think Light would be the way to go. A hundred pound suit of plate armor isn't exactly ideal for desert survival.
