Hi everyone....

I'm not sure about this being the right subforum, so if it's wrong, an admin may move it please...

I have an idea, what if, with the next patch or via hotfix, an "hidden" NPC "trader" could be added with following two options:
"I'd like to have my current active quest reset please" and
"I'd like to have removed one item from my inventory please"

The trader could be made known through a letter via the courier.
Maybe the quest reset option could be even added to the quest-giver...

I've read and also experienced so many times that, especially random quests (college of winterhold, getting the books for the library) with random locations, can't be finished 'cause you've been in that cave/dungeon/whatever before...
Also sometimes, even after the quest is completed, some "remainings" stay in the inventory (Hjerim/blood on the ice quest - the amulet, if you don't sell it...)

With my idea, that problems could be easily solved...

What do you think about that?

The resetting of quests is a big no-no.

Primarily because of what actually goes into resetting a quest. Scripts have to be reset, NPCs reset, dialogue reset, quest critical items moved back to their required location and quest stages reset. There's too much to be done.

It's not that easy and would just break quests further in some cases.

edit: As for removing items. It wopuld be better to have the quest tag removed, but the item remains in your inventory. You can then do what you want with it. Store it, sell it, drop it. etc. rather than remove it outright.

Quest resetting is not going to happen, there are too many things it could break.

What should be done: let us remove quests from our journal and associated quest items from our inventory. Ideally, all quest items should be removable, but people would instantly start whining that they sold an important item and can't get it back, so better not.

We also need a fix for duplicate quest items: books, amulets. I get it, that amulet of Talos is a quest item, but I only need one, not three...

Okay, I go for the quest tag removed.... :tops:

but....why not reset the quests? What if "go to B, get A, come back" is impossible since the quest arrow points towards a chest where, for example, books are supposed to be inside, but for whatever reason, wether you have been in that dugeon before or whatsoever, these books aren't there? Of course, on PC you could use console commands, but on the x-box or ps3? they're stuck with a quest they can't finish and that way can't progress in the storyline...
