Humans in green skin (Orcs)

Post » Thu Jan 24, 2013 4:39 am

I just came across this funny image: https://images.nonexiste.net/popular/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/v-on-Bethesda-s-Elder-Scrolls-orcs.jpeg

Anyways...

My greatest fear for people who are going to play an orc is that they are going to get turned away if this image: http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/pl/images/3/30/TESOMaleOrc.png
is the direction ZOS is going with their orc race.

Really...

Is this the best you can do? A over sized human with green skin slapped on with two tusks?

Yeah, that oversized Orc is... ugh.

What do you suggest then, OP? How would you like Orsimer to be depicted? They have quite a rich history and culture, it was clearly visible in Skyrim - and a lot of ESO players will have played Skyrim before, so I'm not afraid people will think of Orcs as of green-skinned humans.

That first picture is the definition of ignorant.

And the Orc from ESO has been from the first ingame footage in June last year. Body proportions and character design have changed considerably since then.

I won't believe it until I see it.

That actually looks similar to how the orsimer were depicted in TESII: Daggerfall. I do believe there has already been some uproar about this and they may have already changed design. To be honest it doesn't bother me because all of the elves and orcs looked more like traditional tolkien stuff prior to Morrowind, Altmer still golden skin and long spiny fingers but they looked more like elves back then compared to Skyrim. Dunmer used to look identical to D&D darkelves and Orcs looked a bit more like the picture above.

Maybe the races looked a little different in the first era, it's amazing what 4-5000 years can do.

Reduce the proportion! They should look strong and thick skinned.

I hope so, because the http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/pl/images/3/30/TESOMaleOrc.png looked like http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100604230802/shrek/images/0/0d/Shrek_family.jpg

When I saw the second image, this picture also came to my mind: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20060810170109/aokb/images/5/5e/Breed_atrox.jpg

the infamous atrox from anarchy online.

xD

Edit: dang, now I want to boot up anarchy online...

Orcs should look like this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TbTvX8IjOD0/UOy8PKa3JUI/AAAAAAAAAFg/hxO7zKeUo_8/s1600/707905-lotr_fotr0030.jpg or http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121009121029/lotr/images/1/1f/Orcs_-_Two_Towers.png or even http://i.qkme.me/3okkt7.jpg ... maybe not exactly like this, but less human-like and more vicious.

The two first images are goblins. Anyways, J.R.R Tolkien orcs are different from fantasy orcs we know now.

Agreed.
If youre going to compare Orcs, do your research at least.
Comes off as a deliberate slur really, as its hard to believe he knows about Orcs in all those games but when it comes to TES hes suddenly clueless.
