How I change the Guilds..

Edit* Messed up the Title, should read "How I Would change the Guilds" :wallbash:

Hey guys, so one of the integral parts of the Elder Scrolls series has been the faction and Guild questlines. Keeping with tradition Skyrim includes them as well, and everyone is going to have their own opinion on them. Me? I thought they were satisfactory enough, most were on the shorter side, and felt less involving as they could have had.

So here is how I would have changed the Guilds in my personal preference:

Companions: So, as everyone should know by now, this is the guild that forces

you to become a werewolf

It is very forced and has no options other than to accept it and move on. What if there was a sect of the companions that opposed that practice and you could choose sides? Or perhaps joining the Silver Hand instead, viewing the feud from a different standpoint?

One thing I did like about the vanilla version, was that the questline buddied you up with a guild member for that particular mission and I felt more apart of the team, and added to the experience.

Thieves Guild: So many things that I wish I could say about this particular guild, but I'm going to keep it as short as possible.

First off, I barely knew my fellow thieves, sure I could talk to them outside of completing a quest and receive a radiant task from them. But the main storyline involved only 4 major characters

Karliah, Brynjolf, Mercer Frey, and yourself
. You could get by without ever knowing your fellow guildies, and you never see them in action!

My suggestion? Take a leaf from the Companions' book and have a fellow member tag along with for certain missions, or doing something that seems relevant at least to the storyline. Bringing them into the picture, rather than leaving them as filler content.

College of Winterhold: For this particular Guild, I would have preferred them to keep the School aspect of the game as part of the experience. But as soon as you do the second mission, you are elevated above that and are forced to do critical things for the college right off the bat!

So more schooling aspects and teaching us new spells relevant to our skills would have been interesting and useful! Send us out on quests were magical skills are a requirement, rather than dungeons completable by anybody!

Bard's College: I shouldn't even mention this as a guild, but it has potential to be interesting and expanded on, so I want to touch on it.

This could have been the non-violent guild that speechcraft users could have enjoyed! Imagine having to play music and regale a crowd with a song or epic poem you could make up as you went along, using your speech skill to change how a crowd will react or change up the options!

Let us occasionally offend someone and settle things with our fists or have up-and-coming warriors invite us on their own epic quests!

So there are my thoughts on the current guilds and how I would change them. What do you think? Do you like these Ideas? Or what would you prefer? Let us all know in your responses below.
