After reading in these forums how fun the illusion school of magic could be I decided to build a straight mage who will specialize in illusion. My question is can this be viable after say level 35 or so? it appears that Mayhem would be a main spell for me, but it only effects enemies up to level 25? I add rage and it goes up 12 that is still only 37. I tend to play characters to around 50 and just am wondering if my focus should be somewhere other than illusion. Never played a mage must past level 15 so any help would be beneficial. Thanks.

It can, but I believe you would need to start dual casting. It's pretty amazing when you can use it on Dwarven machines and Draugr.

The perks in the illusion tree will effectively raise the level on what you can hit with your spells. Oh and becoming a vampire will also boost your spells power. With vampirism and a full perk tree, if the enemy is not immune you can effect it. Oh and master spells are useless so don't bother. Dual casted illusion magic at it's strongest is more powerful.
