I was wrong about mages! Also faction questions

Hi all

I started off as a dederic armor wearing brute holding a legendary two handed sword..
At level 35 I retired with a goal to find a new adventure..

Archer / assassin was going well but early on I could tell this is going to be the same from start till finish so took an early retirement under level 10..

I tried my Mage, first off I was bored, not many spells to try out and almost gave up..

How wrong I was.
Now level 10(I know still early) but its all opening up to be alot of fun and interesting play style.

I have the arch Mage robe which makes it alot easier casting, finally have fireballs which are alot of fun to use and really enjoying the conjure . Raising a undead NPC to fight for you is very enjoyable ! But tempted I am to go necro.. The instant cast side seems much more ideal ?

Still learning how to mix In illusion and still getting my way through the hot keys properly since I use my Xbox for this.

Question regarding factions and other little things..

Is it possible to join a vampire faction or the circle and if so is it a real fraction as in like the brotherhood or companions

I know you can become a wearwolf as I have done this on a previous play through.. But can I turn into a vampire without dawnguard dlc ? If so is it any fun? Would it suite a Mage style?

Not interested in the dark brotherhood as done that before .. Still never completed the thievery quests but might save that for anther play through ..

Any tips on where to get some good spells? Where do I get the summon dedera?

I have the dragon born dlc but will save that till I finish the main quest line I think...

If you've gotten the Archmage's Robes, then you've completed the College of Winterhold quests, and the instructors there are the best spell vendors in the game. You need to level up your magic school skills before they start offering you the higher end spells for sale; their vendor lists are leveled.

You can turn into a vampire without Dawnguard. Vampirism in the game without DG has more severe penalties than it does with DG installed, and there is no vampire faction in the non-DG game. Everyone you meet will be hostile to you when you reach the final stage of vampirism.

There is a Vampire Faction in Dawnguard. They give you Random quests and such... The only way to be a Vampire without Dawnguard is just get the Disease from it. You can't be a Vampire Lord without Dawnguard and siding with the Volkihar
