Thoughts (And Hopes) For The Elder Scrolls Online?

Greeting!

Like most of you I'm sure, lately I have been browsing the web, hungry for any tidbits of information on The Elder Scrolls Online I may have missed or not come across previously. On these excursions, I have come across many, MANY, TES fans ripping this game a new one, despite the fact that the amount of yet to be released information about the game is staggering. Slightly off topic, but It is frustrating to see so many people who call themselves "Loyal Elder Scrolls Fans" lose faith in the developers of the game who have time and time again proven what they are capable of. That's my tiny rant.

I have thought of a few things that I would love to see in the finished game:

Lots Of Armor Slots! And Armor! And Weapons!
Those of you who played Morrowind should know what I am talking about. I want L/R pauldrons back! And L/R bracers/gauntlets! And what about greaves! I miss being able to create a truly unique looking character and have felt that Oblivion and Skyrim have lacked in this area. As this is an MMORPG, I feel that it absolutely NEEDS insane levels of customization, and an INSANE amount of armor-types. I want to be able to make my character stand out. I don't want to battle through a dungeon only to find the exact same 10 types of items i found in the LAST dungeon.

Guild Halls!
No, I don't mean a slice of the land cutout for cookie-cutter Guild Halls. I'm thinking more of a separate world space, that you can teleport to if you're part of the guild that owns it, and the ability to invite non- guild members would also be appreciated.

Size!
I wan't to experience the same sense of discovery I felt when exploring Azeroth ( All those years ago), I want there to be a multitude of geographical features that makes each province feel unique! I want to FEEL like I'm actually exploring all of Tamriel, not just a slice. This is part of the reason that The Elder Scrolls games are so popular. It's what makes the series.

Meaningful Player Interaction!
I don't want to go questing with a party of cardboard cut-outs. I also do not want to enter a city populated by, cardboard cut-outs.

Pets/Companions!
Adding some obtainable companions, mounts, and/or pets, would also be a welcome feature in my eyes. A little extra help is always appreciated, right? I don't expect any flying mounts, but even a boring old hose would make getting around worlds easier.

Expansive Dungeons!
I would very much enjoy being able to spend a good chunk of time plundering a single dungeon, and I would like to see the use of traps and secret passages. Secret passages that MATTER though, not ones that end in empty dead ends, but ones that offer an alternate route to an objective, or have decent loot at the end. This leads into my next hope...

More Rewarding Exploration!
I like the feeling I get when I spend a few hours exploring a large area, and am rewarded with decent loot, or easter eggs, or... anything other than mushrooms and plants. There were a few times in Skyrim where I would conquer a dungeon, only to find countless sacks of Flour and Potatoes.

These are only a few of the features I'm excited to (Hopefully) see in the game, I've got more I would love to add, in the event that anyone decides to read this! :D For every response, I'll add something else.
What Do YOU Guys Want To See?

I don't think your getting your pauldrons, though I could be wrong. Guessing that they probably will have a system similar to skyrim for better performance and all.

Who knows. Although this may sound selfish, I wouldn't mind if this game had extremely high system requirements. I feel like if they're going to make a TES Online, it deserves to be spiffy, lol.

I'm sure they will make it as flexible as possible as they want to get as much people paying as possible, though I need not worry either way.

Extremely high system requirements would instantly make it incompatible to have "Hundreds of players on the screen", alongside details of your surroundings, for 100% of the players.

When you're playing PVP, and you have 30 players from each faction on the same spot, fighting each other, plus trebuchets, spells, plants, roads, buildings, and god knows what else to make your cpu, latency and graphics card burn out, you'd know that was unfeasable, unless you want everyone to play at 1 FPS with latency in their thousands. And that's for those whose cpu or graphics cards would even enable them to be in the game.

Bottom line: The higher the graphical requirements, the more people you are preventing from playing the game without upgrading their computers. The more people that aren't playing the game, the less money the game, Zenimax, and Bethesda generates. Not a sound strategy for an inspiring MMO that is trying to compete with the likes of WoW.

Plus a game can look really good without high system requirements. I find that games with high system requirements actually look worse than other games.

They have said a 5 year old laptop will be able to play this game. That means the system requirements are going to be pretty low. The graphics will be highly scalable though.

Very valid point, just trying to think of a way more armor slots could be made possible. Bottom line is, I don't want to walk into a dungeon and find a Daedric onesie.

Greetings!

Hola  Good to see a new poster on these forums that gives some detail in their post most of the time.

I love it. As many armor places as possible I say :D However, it won't happen. Probably won't be as scaled down as Skyrim, but think more Oblivion when it comes to this. I would hope we could go back to L/R pauldrons, bracers and gauntlets. I think they should stick with the Oblivion style, while giving us tons and tons of different types of armor. The last thing I want to see is a fallout esque one piece armor. I don't think that will happen though. I expect Oblivion style, with much more armor choices.

Guild Halls!
No, I don't mean a slice of the land cutout for cookie-cutter Guild Halls. I'm thinking more of a separate world space, that you can teleport to if you're part of the guild that owns it, and the ability to invite non- guild members would also be appreciated.

Eh, I'd rather have guild halls you can build outside of cities once you're guild reaches a certain prestige. I don't think guild halls should be separate in any way, they should be a part of the land and a place anyone can walk to, and even rob if they have the skill for it. To counter that, maybe we could have hire NPC guards for guild halls?

Couldn't agree more. I want various caves, mountains, prairies, all that good stuff that makes the series great. I don't have a doubt we'll have this feeling with ESO. I didn't like Skyrim as much as other TES games, but even Skyrim had those exploration feelings.

Meaningful Player Interaction!
I don't want to go questing with a party of cardboard cut-outs. I also do not want to enter a city populated by, cardboard cut-outs.

I agree, which is why I don't want a dungeon finder system. I believe that would ruin the whole experience of finding a group of people and a cave or a quest to explore. You can find yourself a group by exploring around, then find a quest(Lets say a typical find my family aireloom quest), then you go there and split the reward. Much better than being thrown into a group exploring a dungeon for god knows what reason. I hate that about MMO's, no sense of immersion sometimes.

Pets/Companions!
Adding some obtainable companions, mounts, and/or pets, would also be a welcome feature in my eyes. A little extra help is always appreciated, right? I don't expect any flying mounts, but even a boring old hose would make getting around worlds easier.

This isn't a bad idea, but I don't want to buy them like in a normal MMO. Maybe they could be random encounters you come across in dungeons, then you earn them as companions? Something along those lines. But I don't think they should all be blindly bought, they should have some story to them.

These are only a few of the features I'm excited to (Hopefully) see in the game, I've got more I would love to add, in the event that anyone decides to read this! :D For every response, I'll add something else.

Well, I like adding on to your ideas  I think most things I've gone over quite well. I just want it to feel more like TES, and less like an MMO. I want lively guards, even if they are a little psychic. A living, breathing world. And not a bunch of one dementional NPCs giving redundant and meaningless quests.

Nice post

1. I too would like to see a return to the many individual armor pieces (Morrowind). Oh and let me wear normal clothes under my armor please!
2. I would love to see places in my travels and recognize them as places I've been to in the single player games. I want to explore Dwemer ruins and be scared in Daedric Shrines.
3. I want to be able to pick up stuff and manipulate my environment (and from what I've read we can do just that). I can't wait to collect books and hopefully Dwemer Tubes.
4. I want to run across Ordinators in Vvardenfell and have them call me "Scum". :D
5. I want dungeons and I want to kill Mannimarco and beat Molag Bal in a huge epic raid. I want it to be difficult.

6. But most of all, I want it to feel like I'm playing Elder Scrolls, but with friends.
