Why is the choice of wives so rubbish?

I mean - I don't want to sound sixist, judgemental or shallow, but it seems Bethesda picked some real hounds. Like Aeri - seriously, who wants to marry that old bag? Or Taerie. Ok it's great they cater for folk who are into old ladies, but it's not like the choice is huge to start with, particularly when a bunch of wives are tied to entire questlines - like if I don't want to do the tedious Companions questline, that's a whole bunch of spouses out of the picture right there. And a lot of the fairer maidens have frustrating issues - like Muiri constantly going on with you helping her with her "problem" after you're married sounds like she's had some kind of weird sixual dysfunction you've been very patient with. Sylgia is a good choice, but console players who can't access console commands are stuck with someone who not only wears mining gear to their wedding but will carry on wearing it round the house (why you can't interact with spouse inventories I'll never understand). Grelka has the dialogue and she's a babe, but she was inexplicably left off the list in favour of a tug boat like Uthgerd. Then you've got Camilla who's ok but inevitably having an affair (though I've found that can provide a convenient extra part time guard hanging around your Hearthfire property).

Or is it me? Do other people feel spoiled for choice?

Again, not meaning to sound sixist. I'm not saying I'm some kind of Greek God, but then I'm not in a fantasy computer game. It's probably the same for the choice of guys, but all my female characters are lisbians so I wouldn't know.
