Hi all,

this topic is about problems within existing factions.
It's well known that races who have currently allied with each other have had problems in the past (wars between the khajit and bosmer, nords and dunmer, argonians and dunmer, etc etc) and it even says on the ESO website that the Ebonheart Pact is an uneasy alliance.

There already is a topic about betraying your faction and joining another. This topic is not about that.
I don't know if you guys particularly dislike/hate any other races or factions, but as a Dunmer player i really dislike the Nords
Do you guys think such animosity between races and their players could become part of the game? (both inside your own faction and with other factions)

Consequences of this could be (for example) that a group of Dunmer mages/archers let the Nordic frontline fight itself to death while they sit back and pick off enemies with ranged attacks (hence, not switching factions or leaving your own, but basicly betraying another race in a certain battle or event)

Another could be that some shops or NPC's would refuse to trade with other races they dislike or had bad experiences with, or if they would increase their prices/limit their stock.
Another possibility would be restrictions on armor. Certain armors could be bound to culture and race and could be made unavailable for others (like the armor of the Great Houses of Morrowind only being available to Dunmer for example)

(please don't let your thoughts wander too far, i am against racism in real life But it could pose problems at several points in time in Tamriel )

As a true Mer and servant of the glorious Aldemeri Dominion, I can say that racism within the game is a neccasity. It helps to define the different factions and the cultures of those factions. But I don't think one should be forced to feel like one HAS to be racist towards other races, just because you pick e.g a Nord. I myself... well, I think the intro to this post explains just what I think.

But this with merchants being affected by it sounds really cool, I would add some depth to the game with minimal effort, I think, and could be very good to define our characters.

Overall: I think Racism will help the RP-part of the game, and the more NPCs that are affected by it the better.
