We had a power flicker today that shut down my pc while I was playing Skyrim. I hadn't restarted my pc for about a week. Everything comes back up as normal except when I try to open steam it checks for updates and finds one. It gets to ~64 out of ~150,000MB of the download and freezes. It then says, and I am paraphrasing here, something like "Steam needs an internet connection to download this update", then it closes. I've run numerous speed tests, averaging at 8.7MB down, and .75 MB upload. I have also done several tracert's to various sites. I've worked for an ISP in tech support for 3 years, so I know how to troubleshoot internet connectivity issues. I have no other issues connecting to any websites or streaming videos, music, etc. There is no issue at all with my internet connection. Period.
So I moved all my game folders out of steamapps and uninstalled steam. Now valve's website will not load at all, it's been sitting there trying to load for 10 minutes with just a white screen.
I'm not expecting much help here. I'm mainly posting this just to see if any others out there are having issues with the steam client, their website, or both. I know this is not a tech support forum for steam, so please don't give me crap about posting this. I just want to know if I'm alone in this or not, and I had no idea where else to post this since steam's forums won't load for me.
If anyone knows how I could start steam in offline mode without first opening it and going to settings as normal just so I can play my damn game, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you to anyone with any information at all in this matter. And to the moderators of this forum, I apologize for posting this here.
Have a great night.
