[Spoilers] Why so fast?

Post » Sun Jan 27, 2013 9:24 pm

My main character on TES games is always a mage. Ok, so I started skyrim and after understand what the dragonborn is, my character decided that he needed to get stronger if he really wanted to fulfill the legend. After talking with the mage on whiterun court, the clear way to go was attend the mage college.

I went there and for my surprise after a few quests (i think it was 8) I become the archmage...WTF. If Im not wrong, with less than 12 hours ingame I became the most important mage on the province, with the highest gear possible. Thats dont make sense. Doesnt matter if I look this subject by the roleplay or gameplay view, its just wrong. Why not do something like the thieves guild, where you need to do several quests before being able to do the ones that make you their leader?

I already complained about this several months ago, many people did. So, I think its something bethesda could have addressed if they wanted to. I say that because I finally bought Dawnguard and for my unpleasant surprise I see this kind of thing happening again.

I decided to join the vampires and even before I do 1 quest for them, I receive one of the major rewards of this DLC, I became the vampire lord.

Why they design the game this way? Players really need to get things so fast to stay interested in the game?

To appeal to the "casual" audience. That's why you see many of the older veterans say Skyrim has been dumbed down.

I didn't read the OP because of the title.

Why not just start this in the spoiler forum to begin with?

If your thread has spoilers, why not put it in the Cheats, Hints, and Spoilers section?

as far as dawnguard is concerned its meant to be that way so that you can play as one of 2 sides. the questlines are designed so that if you choose vampire you can have quests that are determined by being a vampire.

i do however agree with you on the college quests...those were the ones i was most looking forward too and most disappointed by. they really gave you no sense of fullfillment and you became archmage by default. i just replayed a mage character and had to space out the quests to make it feel like i was in the college for awhile, doing other magic related quests in between. frankly the end of the college questline is anti-climatic and empty feeling.

Worst of all, you barely even need to be a mage to become an Archmage. That is ridiculous and obviously aimed at casual kids. I won't stop using that word.

I get that. But why not just become a regular vampire at the start and after several quests be rewarded with the real power?

Besides, you are technically the master of one class of magic with your shouts, so...

Because the run-of-the-mill vampirism is a mere disease. And you need the legit, pure-blooded strain (which is provided by the Volkihar patriarch if you side with him) in order to progress.

If you have to put "spoilers" in your topic title, then clearly, it belongs in the spoilers section.

moved, and please be more careful
