Windhelm feels unfinished.

Am I the only one who gets this vibe? Everytime I walk through Windhelm, even the bridge that leads to the front gates - I notice so many things with lo-res textures and odd, perfectly-angular entry-ways that look like they were copy/pasted directly from Daggerfall. This and the entire Bloodworks Arena being absent makes me wonder what happened..

This drives me crazy every time I visit this hold.

Windhelm is no less low texture then the rest of the game, it's just the stonework style that makes it more obvious.

Honestly, I like Windhelm a bit more than the other cities, with Riften only beating it by a tad bit. Solitude is obviously the most gorgeous city, but it's lacking the style Windhelm and Riften have. Maybe I just have a thing for depressing cities ripe with crime

But yeah, especially that area where we suppose the Arena entrance was supposed to be. It all seems very half done in those aspects.

I just think it's too small. Needs another handful of buildings.

What's there is still beautiful, taken together with the landscape, but I also wish that there was more detail and that it was larger. I'd trade a few of the smaller settlements for the Seat of Ysgramor to be a bit... more.

Yeah, it was rushed.
They cut a lot of things off Windhelm, such as the arena.

I'm glad they cut the arena. It would fit in Solitude better than in Windhelm. Seems more of an imperial thing.

There is a mod that adds a few more shops but it just sort of squeezes them into the current space which looked to me (at least in the CK) as though it would just make the place seem smaller, not bigger. I don't know how complicated it would be to actually move the walls out a bit and make some more space for modded-in additions. Probably more than I'd want to tackle.

There is a mod that adds a considerable military presence to the exterior, at the end of the bridge to the city proper and at nearby checkpoints along the roads leading up to it. I kinda liked having that installed while the CW was still ongoing since it made it feel like the city really was the seat of a military command and under threat of enemy incursion. I took it out after the war had been finished for a while although I kinda miss all those extra soldiers milling about whenever a dragon decides to attack the stables. :P

Ah yes.

The arena was one part that was cut out.
