Dawnbreaker a tad weak for my taste

Post » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:59 am

I love the dawnbreaker's look and the lack of constant refilling it with souls but only 10-15 fire damage seems a bit weak for such a great daedric artifact, although Meridia's Retribution when it does work is helpful against draugr in groups.....chasing them down though not so fun.....btw looks pretty sweet with my ancient falmer armor

Too bad it doesn't benefit from any perks. I will be getting Dawnbreaker for my build soon, its an aesthetic match.

It doesn't really bother me, but then I don't care much for enchanted weapons (cause of the ugliness that is the runes on them). I still use it regularly.

It's 10 - 15 more fire damage than any normal sword is going to do.

Unless you've deliberately manipulated your enchanting skills to the point that you can create "Better than Daedric" artifacts yourself.

But then if you do that when you get Daedric artifacts you're going to be dissapointed.

Bit of a Catch 22.

One problem with Dawnbreaker is that it lacks the proper smithing upgrade potential. There are a number of mods that address this.

I didn't know that one.Bummer. Oh well, back to the mods!

Yeah, I read on the uesp that Dawnbreaker can only be upgraded to Flawless. That's if you don't use the Alchemy-Enchanting loop.

Though not as bad as the Nightingale Blade, and at least there's the chance to get multiple Dawnbreakers for neat looking dual wielding.

No need to loop it. A decent Fortify Smithing enchantment should be enough to propel it to legendary status.

I don't know. That turn undead effect has saved my life many of times. Worth more than than the main enchant of fire damage.

But it's a hard journey to get it there. I'm not even gonna talk about the boss...

A tad small for mine.

My orc looks like he's holding a toothpick when he wields it.

Its a "low" level weapon or reward so having the 10-15 fire damage is understandable in that sense. If you look as it as "this is the weapon from a Deadric Lord" I can see how its somewhat of let down. My real problem is to get that weapon you have to deal with its boss and that Ice Storm of his is brutal at just about any level, and going by the bit of fighting you do before you get to him you just don't see that coming. Still with that said its one of two Deadric items I get every play through.
