Malkoran (The Break of Dawn) is so hard, but this worked for

Spoiler Alert.

I'm at the end of the Break of Dawn quest, and I have died countless times to Malkoran. It's ridiculously hard, but I learned a great way to do this if you, like me, are playing a 2-hand weapon wielding, heavy armor wearing tank. What you do is you let some of the wraiths past the door, and you shut the door behind them. Kill them and pray Malkoran doesn't come to the door and open it. If he did stay at range, then every time you open the door, he will blast you with frost. Have you whirlwind sprint equipped, because you can sprint THROUGH the blizzards without taking damage. With your 2-handed weapon equipped, open the door, and when he casts blizzard, whirlwind sprint through it such that you are close to him after the sprint is executed. Instantly power attack him to stagger him. Open the menu and drink stamina potions so you can do this repeatedly. Don't hit him a lot. Just stagger him with your warhammer over and over, roughly half a second after he stands each time. You will killl him without him casting at you.

That is how I killed him, and I admit I died like 15 times in 45 minutes to this guy. So far, he is the greatest challenge I've faced yet in this game. He would sometimes 2 shot me, and often times, I would die in just 1 hit if the blizzard was a direct hit. Lydia is dumb and got herself killed by charging straight to him and taking spells. She also got ME hit by spells because of her dumb courage. If you can imagine it, I never made it into the room, really. That lane from the door is no-man's land, where me and Lydia died over and over. Whirlwind sprint is your friend. Use it to fly through a blizzard and get to him in the center of the room, and don't let him stand up ever again. Stagger him until he dies with your massive hammer. This is why you need whirlwind sprint to get in there and bash Malkoran to the ground before he kills you or Lydia.

I did this at level 20 on Expert Difficulty.

How is this the wrong forum? I was told that anything with spoilers must be posted here. Spoilers cannot be in any other subsection.

This is not a useless post. Across the internet can be found complaint posts about this very boss. He's widely known as one off the hardest bosses in the game, and he locks you inside the room to boot. People have different playstyles and capabilities by the time the fight this guy. I had NO farmed up skill in marksman, conjuration or destruction, and I had NO upgrades to magicka. I had 200 health and 200 stamina, and I had a handful of shouts. I couldn't widdle him down with my bow and hope to dodge every blizzard. I couldn't hope Lydia would tank, as she wound up dead whenever she didn't get a blizzard cast through her body to 1 shot me by the doorway. This was my only realistic tactic, and other players might want to try it.

It just feels really out of the spirit of an elderscrolls game to tell someone how exactly to beat a boss. Theres a million ways to do it afterall.
And its not like anyone here even asked.

also, theres really no nice way to put this but most gamers wont have the kind of trouble with malkoran you are describing unless skyrim was one of the first video games they ever played or something. elderscrolls games in general are about as forgiving as they get.

Like I said, no offense or anything, but your perspective seems really off.

Everything aside, the spell is easy to move around and there is a conveniently placed paralysis potion just before the fight to the right.

Crossbow from stealth + Serana as backup with spell support = death to Malkoran
