Searching for a help on an Interesting NPCs NMM-compatible i

Hey there. I'm one of quite a few people who work (or have worked) on the Interesting NPCs mod, which can be found http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8429.

Recently, since the mod passed 1 gigabyte in size, mostly due to the massive amount of voiceacting involved, the mod has been breaking nexus itself (uploading is difficult in 1 part, or fails completely.) and it has become a real hassle for users as well, since the multiple parts system currently used makes it problematic. People are getting irate over what are relatively simple instructions, but it is clear that most people are ill-informed on split archives and the like, and many use NMM which cannot handle the size of this mod it seems, particularly on 32 bit systems. In short, it's a mess.

Now, the mod needs fixing, but the current path only makes things more problematic: size will hardly go down in the future, and Nexus will likely not spontaneously improve eiter. We do not really have anyone on board that has the technical know-how to make it work nicely (beyond in-game, that is), and the various patches and the like are confusing.

If there is anyone here who has some experience in making installers for a mod, or some kind of self-extracting archive, or who knows how MCM works so that the custom patches become a thing of the past, I'd highly appreciate it if you let your voice be heard. I'd love to bring Interesting NPCs into that cadre of mods that don't need a ton of instructions. :)

If we have a stable, easy-to-use mod on our hands, people would be much more inclined to give it a try, even with its size. ^-^

Thanks for any responses,

Jeron

I don't recall any issues at all installing Interesting NPCs with the vanilla Skyrim launcher. Simply unpacked the archive and dropped it in my Data folder IIRC.

This is a great mod, with some excellent writing and voice acting.

Most likely you're dealing with an older version then, but even still - a lot of people are getting mighty annoyed about the whole thing. I'd rather find an enduring way to tackle the issue than just giving up on all the techno-noobs.
