I am worried...

Dear Elder scrolls fans and random people. I am worried that this game will get the bad community like WoW, i am sick of that game because of its bad community (there are some other reasons too i am not just listing here). I don't want to seem like hater who example says this: " Omg! Omg! Elder scrolls is doomed because of an mmo" etc. I am saying that i don't want that same style community in this game as WoW for several reasons. And i don't want to be a doomsayer to MMORPGS but i wish this game would have that certain peace in it like the other Elder scrolls games (Example no whining) so you could just play this game in peace.

Just gotta wish...

They're trying to protect the community from griefing mechanics (which is great), we get our own loot bags and xp etc from participating in kills (there is informal grouping in public dungeons) - and all who tag mob gets contribution, so only place we can get annoyed will be by reading Global Chat (which you can switch off). Oh, and the official forums when they open. We can obviously turn off the chat and never read the forums = safe from that as well. So far, so good.

The majority of this community actually seems nice, but the masses of MMO fans are yet to decend. The only dissenting voices currently seem to be the disgruntled TES fans who can't understand why their beloved series is evolving, these people will go away eventually, but likely not until after release.

Well, not much we can do about the whole community.

But what you can do is that look carefully the guild options before joining one.
And then if you find one that seems interesting enough, make an application and if you get to join, get to know the people in the guild.

This might sound a bit like "Well duh..." but you'd be surprised how many people just join guilds for whatever reason and really don't even like the guild.

The guild I'm in now is 7 years old this year. I've been here for almost 6 years now. We still have original founding members here.
When you find a nice guild, you don't even need to see what the rest of the community is like. Just turn off your general chat and enjoy the game with the like-minded people you found.

Honestly I can see there is already a division between the TES veterans and the MMO veterans. Hopefully the two groups will be able to coincide peacefully. And if not, take it out on each other in Cyrodiil, not the forums.

Well. Its the internet. As long as people feel save, they behave like animals.

I dont know how long you played WoW. It was not allways this way. In classic and BC a player could not do mutch without a guild. PUGs where only for small dungeons. If you wanted to do more, you needed a guild. This necessity of guilds lead to the need of good social behavior and server reputation. If you were behaving like a ape on drugs you would have bin kicked out of your guild and no other (serious) guild would have invited you.

In the WoW of today there is no social pressure. DungeonFinder, PUGs and Server tranfer allow you to be as unsocial as you like to with allmost no concequenses.

Its in the hands of ESO to provide the community with tools and mechanics to enshure a good social atmosphere.

Uh... you do realize that the main games will continue to be made yes? It's more like a side step. This game could still flop, it's no WoW. As much as I have hope it wont. So no it isn't evolving into some different thing, this is just a game in the series by a different developer.

I am not one of the people who has a problem with it, or are you taking issue with me saying evolving? I know there will be other TES games (Which I look forward to), but my point was that most of the negative people on these forums cannot understand why this is not TES6 (7?).

I agree completely, same main reason I got off WoW. So far this community has my hopes up. As some have already stated, to an extent there are measures you can take to make your experience of the game and other players more enjoyable.

I find the global chat funny to "listen" to in some MMO's, especially when I am solo and not out grouping. :D

Joining the outnumbered faction is quite a good idea if you want the better community, for several reasons.
And then if you find one that seems interesting enough, make an application and if you get to join, get to know the people in the guild.
Never understood the guild concept. And that after 9 years of MMO experience.
Every guildpost is usually like "We do everything, have everything and are all best friends" I just have to look at the posts in this forum and they all sound similar and just try to convince you, that THEY are better than the others without any proof or justification.

If I want to remember nice people the friendslist is the only correct option.

Thats the point he is trying to make. Its not "turned" into a mmo. Its a spinoff from TES. No one forces anyboddy into playing it.
Its setteled 1000 years in the past especialy because it will not interfear with the next TES in any way.

Why should they care? This is a spin-off, it has nothing to do with the series proper other than the name. If they don't like it, they should just wait for TES6 which will be out in 4-5 years.

http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instances/400x/19908312.jpg, TESO is coming.

The newbie horde will come. They will devour you. There will be so many of them they will blot out the sky and cause a terrible winter that will freeze your skin in seconds. I'm not going to lie, a lot of you won't make it. Moderators will ban many, and others will simply wander away lost forever. If you can weather the storm and survive you will find the community once again prosperous. Generally speaking only a few ever do. Your going to see these forums at their worst, during a major game launch. This right now? Is before a game launch.

Yes, it will inevitably be affected by such community, something I've warned ESO enthusiasts about but they just spat it in my face. But that doesn't mean you won't be able to enjoy the game with your friends OR randomers for that matter because not everyone will be a [censored], it just means that the majority of people you come in contact with will be "power-gamers" with utmost disrespect for the lore or ESO fans.

Trust me, having been through five of these (3 TES, 2 Fallout). We get those people all the time. This will be my sixth major launch survived. I'm also pretty sure a lot of the people posting here, won't be here in a year to a year and a half from now.

True, but not everyone feels the need to log onto the forum of said new game and spout rubbish. If I don't like a game I just ignore it, but then I don't get caught up in a series and act like I own it like a lot of TES fans seem to.

Right, but you've got to understand this was our forum before TESO came along. Now we have to share it obviously. So he has to put up with a lot of TESO run off. It doesn't just stay all in one forum to so easily ignore.

Same, I regard global chat as a form of the Sunday Newspapers, or maybe a Jerry Springer Show.

Yes, the way some TES fans seem to treat the IP like it is their own will be interesting when the MMO fans who couldn't care less about lore or the single player games arrive. I predict a clash, which is bad because people should just understand that some people care about different aspects, and there is nothing saying you cannot have both.
