Faction Lock and World PvP

So apparently "world pvp" is one map, Cyrodiil. This has been a big confusion for a lot of PvP focused guilds looking into ESO and many are under the assumption that there is also world PvP in all zones.

My question is, how big is Cyrodiil? If it is the only zone PvP is in, it better be pretty big or it will get old very quickly. We have already seen this exact same thing fail in GW2, where there are only two maps, one of them has always svcked horribly and the main one is so small that it got old for most guilds in a few months.

If there aren't enough variables in the battles and the zone isn't large enough, this one-zone 'world pvp' is going to get old pretty quick, and all of the PvP guilds moving to ESO will once again be looking for a new game. I'm really worried about how long the PvP is going to last with one map.

Cyrodil is the largest province I believe. The pve area will still be larger due to them being multiple provinces, but cyrodil will still be big. One thing I'm unsure of however is the actually scale of the provinces in game. Here's a map for general reference.

Note however the southern part near blackmarsh and elsweyre will be added later on in an expansion.

The Cyrodiil map is slightly larger than the area in Oblivion.

I remember it being confirmed that Cyrodiil is the same size as it was in TESIV: Oblivion. I hope that's big enough for you.

Cyrodil is one whole province, it was the setting for an entire TES game and apparently according to the developers it's going to be the same size or larger than it was in the singleplayer game, and if you've played TES: IV then you'll know that that's MASSIVE. Also keep in mind that Cyrodil encompasses a lot of different biome's and environment types as well as many different cities and such all with their own distinct personality so it's not like you'll be fighting in a carbon copy, copy and pasted area.

Of course add in the fact that there will be PvE content in the province and a unique mini questline where you and your faction fight Molag Bol's Deadra for the Imperial city if your faction beats the other two and you have a recipe for some fantastic long lasting PvP.

well if this is true, than you can probably go watch some oblivion gameplay to get a general sense of the size.

I've played Oblivion. The problem is, how big a developer says a place is before launch and how big it actually feels is entirely different. The speed at which players can travel makes a huge difference in the feel of size. There's also the fact that there is often a ton of space wasted on the edges of the map, and big blank areas that players never actually go. We can only hope they used that space wisely and that it will still be enough to last more than 6 months to a year.

Seeing as how Matt Firor is heading everything, I'm not too worried about the PvP side of things and what they've shown/described so far sounds pretty awesome, of course we'll have to wait and see what the finished product is like, but I really don't think you need to worry about there not being enough to do in PvP.
