Player Cap?

Is there a player cap in the server and how many servers will there be, i have heard there is just one?
If this is the case wouldn't we have a faction with over a million players if the game is successful?

Well we know that the PvP cap is 2000 in one campaign (I think), and about 200 players on screen. As for each instance of the Megaserver, we don't know.

The Megaserver separates players into different instances based on the questionnaire that you fill out at the beginning of the game. But it's all still one server.

Even if that is the case wont the cities be packed and maybe over populated?

Although there is only 1 server, everybody will be split up depending on the answers you give to the questions before you make a character (PVE players will be put together, PVPers will be put together etc).

think of it as many smaller servers where people have the abilty to jump to another server at any time. thats how i see it at least. its gonne be one big server so everyone will be able to game together and everyone will have to fight for names but then everyone on that server will be split up into a bunch of seperate shards(lack of a better word). now you and me might be friends and on day one we would probably get placed in different shards but by adding each other to the friends list we would then start spawning on the same shard. even if we didnt by grouping we would be phased together. its really a great way of doing things

It's not one server. It's still a boatload of servers, they are just connected for this game. Instead of 10,000 (guess) per server/shard/realm everyone's character is housed on a single "megasever". When you log in to play, based on guilds, friends, playstyle questions you answered and many other parameters we don't even know yet, you are shunted off to a phased server to play. Unlike other games where you have to pay to transfer "servers", you are free to bounce around by altering several parameter choices. You will always be able to play with people you already know if you choose to.

The thing I don't get is the PvP campaigns. If you are gathering resources and taking farms, towns and towers to serve the "war effort" and benefit your faction... how does the megaserver know what faction phase you are aiding at any given time?

EDIT: What Apocalypse42x said...
