The quill was lost in the lake near Riften and I got sent on it by Maven Black Briar to null a debt by an NPC. My question then since I've combed the lake bottom around the rocks is the approximate location.

One thing might lead to a problem here, rather than go to her first about the debt I went to the house of the former thieves guild master. (His name eludes me at the moment). To enter the house then find the location where he could be found and of course the NPC was killed, an imperial soldier actually finished him off I believe. I believe I'm glitch *Bleeped* anyway in Riften since I killed the skooma suppliers at Cragslane Cavern before I ever knew about the quest and that quest won't close out. I'm worried that the same thing happened here, now that the guy is gone the quill has disappeared ruining any hopes of ever becoming thane through Jarl Maven Black Briar.

Any input would be appreciated.
