So apparently Israns family was killed by vampires, and he was consumed by his hatred and lives only to kill them, not even caring if innocents get hurt. The same thing happened to Gunmar, but instead of having his hatred consumes him like Isran, he instead fights to protect everyone from vampires, so they wont suffer the same pain.
