In WoW (Oh jeepers did he just say WoW?!?), the character log-in screen was always charming to look at, each different race had their own little background, and it just made it feel more personal for each character, it was nice to see at the end of the day. For me, a character log-in screen is important when it comes to whether you'll play or not, it's not a big difference, but when scrolling through your characters it just makes it look more appealing to play one depending on how they look, well at least that's how it worked for me sometimes anyway.
I like looking at the log-in screen, it's sort of like a trophy cabinet, you can look through all of your achievements in a sense and then develop them further.

Now, if the character log-in screen looked something like that (with an individual background for each) then it'd just be sweet!
I really hope they don't give each character the same background, it just makes it look stale.
