About the faction restrictions

There has been a lot of discussion about the faction restrictions. That one faction cannot enter areas belonging to the other factions.
I was just wondering, why totally block the other races out? Wouldnt it be more "realistic" that say, if a High Elf wanted to explore the lands of the daggerfall covenant, the npcs/guards guarding
the border of that land would just take the high elfs weapons to ensure he wouldnt kill anyone? And then the high elf could just do all the exploring he wants, and then get his weapons back when he leaves that
area.

This is just an idea, i know the races are supposed to hate eachother, but i dont like the idea of me not being allowed to go EVERYWHERE! Any thoughts?

that's maybe something for an expansion but not now. let them focus on more important things!

And its war you don't talk to your enemies you are supposed to kill them.

your ideas will work if one player can do it but if you can everyone can and will do and it will be a total mess.
but its no problem just roll 2 alts and you can go everywhere.

Well i think the idea is that they don't allow tourists?

I am against faction locked personally i wanted to be a Nord and fight for the High-elf's..

I don't think a total lockout is wise. There should be some quest lines that take players into enemy territory, even if it's a phased version for the single player story line. To have an artificial barrier is emmersion breaking to say the least.

I'm all for no faction lock, but let me throw this out for you: You're going to have an entire province to search for baddies and fight them. Sure they might not be noobie levels, but there's still the same thrill of finding an unsuspecting baddie and killing him with your own hands.

If you want to enter a province so bad, make a character, explore a little, or level and be done with it. If you want to visit a province that badly, it doesn't make sense to not make a character in there. Mind you I don't know if there will be mounts or not, and at what level they'll be, so I don't know how great transportation will be within the province.

I'm kind of starting to like the idea of faction locks just because it's going to make people so one-sided about where they belong to, and they're going to have a ton of pride, and wars will actually become personal, not just for fun.

I don't care i want people to have that same freedom as they had in Skyrim?

I don't think it will be a army of elves and you could always make the campaign "faction locked" instead of the whole world around it..

Again if you want that freedom why not? I could join the stormcloacks or imperials when i was an dark-elf in skyrim so why not now?

I also suggested that the Cryodiil campaign could be faction locked instead of the world around it..

Because Zenimax designed it that way! Good answer i know.
You know what will happen if they say it's ok, you as an orc can play with the trees..ehm...elves... the lore fanatics will jump out of there cave and shout "They are at war, why are the helping each other!!!!!!!!!!!111...". Zenimax had so thing what is the better way fighting lore fanatics ore people think that an area thats the 3xSize of Skyrim isn't enough for there freedom! Not like that you could visit cryodill in skyrim or morrowwind! But god what i know....

No! I prefer a game like the han described developers. I High Elf, I can not get into your Earth. It 'just that it is so. I have my own world with my alliance. And the only way I can kill you see me in the predetermined area to RvR, WvW, AvA how you want to call it.
In my area, my side, I can exp, finish dng, kill named for equip quietly. The only way that I need to compare with the other factions is going to make mass PvP (I do not know of ESO as it will be called ... I FvF? Faction vs Faction)
