Will Vahlok's Tomb quest be [censored] fixed?

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:10 am

Seriously, I can't get out of the damned tomb. I'm trapped in loading screen Oblivion. I had to go an hour back in terms of save files. Vahlok's Tomb quest is going into questlog oblivion, which should take 2 to 5 months judging by how efficient Bethesda is with patching.

Seriously how do you fix this? I tried making a new save, loading that, disabling autosaves, but that didn't work so I gave up and reloaded a save before I entered the tomb.

You would have to do the I need a fresh install solution. Clear the system cache, delete the game if installed, the patch, ALL the DLC and then install and redownload everything. Remember to check if autosaving is off, load up your stuck in the tomb save and you should be able to get out.

Really? I have to do all that crap just so I could do the quest? Wow. Good job Bethesda.

I agree, it is a bit much to expect us to go to all that trouble because they cannot get their game to run properly. You are trying to get your game to run a bit better than it currently is, it has been played for a while and it seems to need a bit of spring cleaning. There is no specific bug with the quest that is preventing you leaving, it is a problem with the game not being able to load the area, which is related probably to the same problem with it being unable to autosave for some of us. Whether it was that loading screen or another it was going to eventually get you. You go to all the trouble of clearing the game cache, uninstalling everything and reinstalling and downloading the patch and all the DLC, you get to play Skyrim and the DLC a bit longer. It comes down to, how much do you want to continue playing Skyrim.

Have you tried disabling auto-saving? I was having the same issue and disabling it solved it for me.

Look at Hearthfire and Dawnguard, they were never patched after release.

If disabling autosaves doesn't work, then all you can do is avoid the area until Bethesda *if they ever do* patch it.

Yeah, disabling the autosaves didn't work so I gave up and loaded up an autosave before I did Vahlok's tomb quest. I might try clearing the cache and reinstalling everything.
