North of the Wind stone, past the island with the little village of Rieklings on it, is another island with like 5 horkers and a dragon on it. After i ninja killed the horkers i snuck up on the dragon (which was funny cause he was looking under his wing at me and the eye was closed so i was hidden) and shot him with an arrow. He flew in the air did a lap around the island and then landed again i hit him with dragonrend so he wouldn't fly off again and almost instantly after he flew into the air (which i didn't think could be done while under dragonrend) and then just flew off toward the smoking mountain and i haven't seen him since. Does he ever come back cause i kinda wanted that soul...

I have had a few dragons do that to me before Dragonborn was installed, never saw them again. I even chased one hoping it would have to land, no it just vanished into thin air. Despite obviously hitting them with Dragonrend it just does not seem to be enough sometimes. Some were on the ground when hit, they took off just fine.

I am not absolutely sure, but when I went to that island there was no dragon there, but I have caught a snoozing dragon elsewhere, so maybe he is just a random event.

Yes, I had the exact same scenario except there's no honor in killing horkers so I ignored them. Dragonrend did not permanently ground him. Happened to me again in another location that I can't remember.

There are too many dragons who won't mind their own business. I was cleansing a stone, going in for the kill/soul trap on the lurker, when I heard the crowd in a twitter over something. A dragon that was as cute as Parthanax, same big nose, behind me. I'm drowning in unneeded dragon souls!
