Got house at Raven Rock and adding supplies to it it then fr

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 1:35 am

I giot into the house and there where no freeze screens until I started transporting ingredients and smithing materials from my other Skyrim homes. I don't know the name of the house that was given to me for completing serveral quests in Raven Rock. Going to Solisteim there are no problems only now when I approach the house on the out skirts of Raven Rock does the screen freeze.

I am level 71 a High Elf that has lots of perks in Stealth and Smithing plus alachemy.

The freezing when you approach the house is a bug, it is not as far as I know related to what you have in the house. I had transported nothing from any other house and still have the freezing. You could try avoiding that area between the walls, and approaching the house a different way, or try approaching the house a lot slower and waiting for any conversations to finish before passing that bit of the path.

It might also help if you do not cut the corner too close, I try to stay in the middle of the path, although it still gets a bit jerky sometimes.

I tried your suggestions and was able to get into Severin Manor without a screen freeze. Also I read some of the tech support notes for Dragonborn and decided it was not a good idea to use all my saves on 512 MB cloud storage. So I transfered the sves for my game to the main hard drive and leave 51 Gigs free and don"t let the count of saves get over forty. Thanks for your help aussie500.

Yes, my X locks up almost every time I'm near Sevrin manor using the walkway. Thanks for confirming it's a known bug. I now do a quick save at the ash yam field where the merchants are, then do running jumps to approach the manor in a diagonal pattern, quick jump turn to land on the doorstep, and I'm in. That crazy method has worked for me, but I'm going to test whether it's just a matter of waiting for background conversations to end. I thought it was the mass of complicated programming going on, where all the plants are gently moving in the breeze.

Dragonborn is great, but once I'm done I'm not going to live there. I'm going back to my wonderful Falkreath estate to kick back until the next DLC. There will be more DLC, right?

I have had it freeze with no conversations going on, but I was usually sprinting and going close to the blocks, I gave up doing that.

Sneaking up on the house it never froze. To slow, things to do places to go.

I was going slow the other day, was in the middle of the path, that guard was still talking when i passed the trouble spot, it froze.

Where ever I first land in Raven Rock I save now, just in case that house attempts to freeze my enthusiasm.

Pretty sure there will be more DLC.

Just chiming in saying I have the freezing problem when I approach Severin Manor as well. I had also figured out that approaching more slowly and from the back of the home does help.

*Rumor* has it there is at least two more DLC's in the works.

For some reason, I've never experienced this freezing problem around Severin Manor. I wonder if I'm just lucky or if there is something that triggers the problem. I don't mean to speculate on what might or might not happen, but it seems like if there aren't some major bug fixes in both the regular Skyrim game and the current DLCs, then there will be even more severe issues that arise with future DLCs (assuming there are more). I wonder if Bethesda will ever release patches for the Skyrim DLCs, because I don't recall them ever releasing any DLC patches for Oblivion.

There will be no patches for the DLC's, that said the freezing near the house could just be a symptom of the performance problems the game is having for some of us. But I did the recommended fix, cleared the system cache and did a fresh install of everything, and still it froze at that point, not every time, sometime it would just stutter a bit. But then that fix only lasted a few weeks, the game for my main character is now slowly falling apart again.

I now never use the path when going to the house, problem avoided.

I don't mean to get off topic, but I'm just curious how you know that there won't be ever be patches that fix some of the DLC issues on the consoles? Is it somehow not possible or did the developers announce that there won't ever be any?

Yep, I also get the freezing when approaching Sevrin Manor. A right pain in the council gritter.

Sneaking up to the house from the side *mostly* works, but not always.

It is apparently not possible, they ever had to fix something, they would have to re-upload an entire new DLC to replace the old, which they would only do for something serious, that everyone had a problem with.

Most of the problems with the DLC have been performance issues, patches not applied in the right order, or the game not being restarted after DLC content is added. The real bugs we usually find ways to get around, or avoid.
