I can't get the quest to start crafting Stalhirm. Any one else like this?

Talk to the blacksmith in raven rock. Get his pickaxe. Go to skaal village. Talk to the npc that makes you look for their blacksmith. Rescue blacksmith. Get his map. Mine stahlrim. Get ebony smithing perk. Make stahlrim weapons and armour.

I haven't had the chance to check it yet on mine, but it may be impossible to get as long as you have another rescue quest ongoing.

I can tell someone is missing, but Deor won't respond to it.

Since I've got a rescue from DG (Skald or whatever his name is from Dawnstar), I don't think I can get another till thats completed.

Just keep checking back at Skaal village and you will eventually get the conversation that starts the quest.

I had the same problem. I had tried talking to him while I had the last main quest active and I didn't have any dialogue options for any of the skaal. After I finished that quest the conversation options returned. Other then that I don't know what the problem would be.

If you can actually talk to the blacksmith then you will not get the quest as he is not the one who gives it to you. He is the one who goes missing. Once you finish the quests for him leave the village, next time you return you will come across a convo with the strong voice woman and another guy. This will prompt the dialogue for the quest.

I got it done before. I'm just saying that if you talked to stong whatever her name is the first time you go to the village and then don't talk to deor what his name is til the last quest you don't get the option. I didn't get to rescue the blacksmith until after the main quest was complete.

I found out it was active by talking to the bartender at the Retching Netch and asking about any rumors...

He activates a few side quests but I am pretty sure he doesn't activate this one.
