Spring Break trip ideas

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:37 pm

So, my girlfriend and I will have 1000 dollars together with our tax refunds, and instead of being responsible with it were thinking of taking our week of paid vacations on spring break and have an amazing trip together. We are really thinking Colorado but we don't know what the weather is like on Spring Break near Denver or Colorado Springs. We're hoping for something close to Spring like it is in Oklahoma: around 65 degrees without too much snow. Gas would be a forgiving estimate of 210 dollars for the round trip and commuting while were there, and I've been trying to find a room (some kind of awesome log cabin if possible) for like 500 or 600 in an interesting place, like Colorado Springs or Old Colorado City. Would anyone be able to shed some light on these troubles or share their experience?

But aside from that I'm still open to the idea of going somewhere completely different if the idea is right. Were trying to avoid Spring Break party type places though, like Miami Beach (which would most likely be way expensive anyway) and South Padre Island etc.

So, there it is. Input is appreciated and welcome!

I went to Yosemite last year. If you can afford to get there. Do it.

Am I safe to assume that you're interested in Colorado because of the legal marijuana smoking? Lol

I'd personally recommend saving the money and going somewhere nice in state. Every state always has their own wonderful tourist locales that people living there still haven't seen. But of course that's no fun!

You're probably going to have to wait until Spring break gets a closer in order to know the weather. Planning it all out now would be counter-productive as weather is very unpredictable and I've seen snow in Colorado well past Spring. I'm not sure on cheap Spring break-ish type locations though. Obviously if you want a sure bet on nice weather just keep going south.

One thing my girlfriend and I did for a week long trip was just pack our bags and start driving with no specific final destination in mind. We left Michigan and out of Ohio (there's nothing in Ohio) and we kept stopping at those really nice truck stop places and grabbing brochures to different areas and locations. We went all over in quite a few different states, stayed in nice unique places every night and saw some really cool and interesting things and places around the country we wouldn't have seen otherwise. It was one of my favorite trips I've ever taken with anyone. It was just her and me driving, stopping when and wherever we wanted, going where we wanted, and eating and sleeping at any place of our choosing when we were ready.

Alright, a small amount of risk is involved with this one.

Go to Vegas. Put it all on 17 Black on the Roulette table.

Spend the winnings on a vacation to Hawai'i. Call me. I'll show you around! You cover expenses. :D
