Who does Miraak remind you of 'villain-wise' in his manner and dialogue?

not really, bane was pretty loyal to his master, and extremely devoted to his cause.

Miraak denies his destiny, and instead decides to learn evil magics from a tentacle demon, and later tries to escape the tentacle monster. He also uses mind control, which i don't think bane ever used

I guess they both wear goofy masks?

Well, I think it was Miraak's mannerisms that reminded me of Bane.

There's one at the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite remember his name.
Hmm...

He kind of reminds me of Lucien from Fable 2. You hardly see him or hear from him and he lives far away while trying to unlock some kind of super power.

He reminds me of the Brain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHn0pBePN7I with Pinky as a cultist. Nah, just kidding...Brain's plans are far more complex!

You see, this is one of those moments where I wished we had more backstory on him. Or a more complex one. Something like - what if "The Guardian and the Traitor" is mostly (or at least a bit) propaganda? What if there's another side to the story?
Like his first intentions were not all "mwahahaha, moar power!".
Yes, yes, good guy gone bad is so cliché..but it's not like the rest of the current story isn't. Referring strictly to Miraak.

It's already wide open for "The Guardian and the Traitor" to be propaganda. It ends with "His reign is, by all accounts, a time of peace and prosperity for the people of the island." Given that the Guardian was a Dragon Priest, it's not to far of a stretch to call bs on that claim. Not to mention Miraak knows of Alduin, and speaks almost as if he was meant to fight the dragon but rather chose against it.

Miraak was dragonborn, like us and other dragons he's driven to near insane lengths to garner power in any shape or form. I have no doubt old Herma-Mora was able to seduce Miraak with promises of knowledge and power. If we assume Akatosh gave Miraak the power of dragonborn around the same time Kyne gave mortals the ability to use Thuum, then it's a safe bet in my mind that Miraak might have been among the first mortals to turn on their Dragon overloards in an attempt to break free from that rule.

I don't know what kind of villain Miraak is like, mainly because I don't view him as the villain of this dlc. It's old Herma-Mora. Miraak's life is just a series of events where he's trying to break free from his fate. I'd probably place him next to Vegeta, honestly.

I hope we get to learn more about him in some form or fashion eventually. He's pretty interesting when you think about the time he came from and the destiny he tried to overcome. Like Neloth says afterwards, It's probably a good thing we stopped Miraak's return, but now we'll never know what would have happened if he had managed to make it here.

That's my headcanon.
I'm also hoping that we get to learn more about him, officially, but I think that chance is pretty slim.

Miraak was barely in the story.... so, um, he didn't remind me of anyone because he just barely has a personality.

He reminds me of the Didact from Halo 4.

Both seek to return ages after their disappearance, both being very powerful leaders in their time, possessing power beyond that of the protagonist, and plan to "take over the world". They even talk similarly. Just watch:
