Could this be 'The Elder Scrolls game' that you love? No.

Could this be 'The Elder Scrolls game' that you love? Probably not.
Could this be 'The Elder Scrolls' story that you love? Yes, perhaps.

It's an incredibly big difference between what's possible in the technical world when you compare a MMORPG with a RPG.
They have a different type of choices, different type of freedom, different type of adventure.
So you cannot expect it to be the game that you love.
But it could be a different MMORPG game that you may love.

So you may put the story of 'The Elder Scrolls' into a MMORPG world but you cannot put 'The Elder Scrolls' game into a MMORPG.

So I do still to this day, hope for 'The Elder Scrolls' game that has 2 player co-op.
It is a more realistic hope, a hope to be able to experience the same game with your closest.

Actually, everything that is possible in the single-player TES games is possible in an MMO, but if it was put in, there would be a lot of whining... Of course, there's a lot of whining anyway...

It's totally possible for this to be the Elder Scrolls game that I love, mostly because it's a game titled Elder Scrolls. Co-op/multiplayer in the SP, main-series games could/could not be good, but it's not really what's on the table here. Now, you're absolutely right that ESO is going to be rather mechanically distinct from TES main series games, due to the facts and realities of designing a game world to be inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people as opposed to one person a hundred thousand times, but I don't think that necessarily makes this not an Elder Scrolls game, any more than the mechanical differences in Redguard and Battlespire make THEM not TES games.

Also, welcome to the forums!

Well I for one remain cautiously optimistic about this game, and look forward to playing it. Multiplayer in a SP Elder Scrolls title just wouldn't work for me.

In the Single Player games, it's all about one person being the hero. Having friends drop in and play with you would kind of take away that feeling you get when you take down enemies, do quests and the such by yourself.

I dunno, it just wouldn't sit well with me.

Well, since I'm not all that psychic, I'm going to wait until I get my hands on the game and actually play it before I decide whether or not it feels like I'm playing TES.

Also, considering how much I loved Morrowind, if I went by your line of thinking, I never would have played Oblivion or Skyrim.

Just sayin', you might be missin' out if you aren't willing to give it a chance.

its pretty eazy and straight forward ...

if you hate or simply dislike MMO's then you wont like ESO
if you like both genres you will love it

me i love both but my biggest concern is that the game will have a subscription fee pr be Pay2Win (P2W)

The tricky part is trying to land where less people are whining, and still stick to what game you want to make.

Also, welcome to the forums!

Thank you!

But you know, I grew up with Morrowind and I remember playing that game. It was amazing and I felt the same way with Oblivion and Skyrim.
These are some of the things that was is important to me:
  • Having my own home or property, decorating it.
  • Being able to move things\items\objects in the world.
  • Full 1st person view with hands showing, etc - (that made me feel that I was this character, that I was playing).
And combined together these 3 things is just one important thing that make 'The Elder Scrolls' game, good for me.

You also have the freedom of going exactly wherever you want, there is no 'level limit' or 'zone'. It's my personal adventure and it can be different everytime.

If anyone even had listened to the "announcement gameplayer trailer" you would've heard that they aim to get the "TES-crowd" and the "MMORPG-crowd" together.
I really don't want to generalize but some TES-"fanatics" behave like children during an apocalypse though there are exceptions!

I started with MMORPG in 2001/2002 and I've been playing TES-titles since Morrowind because the story and it's universe is just awesome.
Even the Warhammer Fantasy franchise is represented in many different games in completely different genres. There is a strategy game, a MOBA PvP Game and even an MMORPG about Warhammer Fantasy. Don't tell me that there are any huge difference between Warhammer in different genres and TES in TESO. Its about the [censored] story and "feeling". Not about gameplay elements.

Could this be an MMO Elder Scrolls, and an MMO that you would enjoy as an MMO? Yes.

You read a book for story and feeling, a book doesn't need gameplay elements.
You play a game because the gameplay elements are good and if the story and feeling is there as well, then it is a great game.

THIS.

I've followed many MMO's to launch and been a part of the community in every one and this is honestly the first time a sect of the community is so adverse to change and something new. I just don't get it, guess i got the wrong impression of my fellow gamers over the years. i thought as a whole we were always pretty open to trying new things and wanting new games to play.

So here we have an MMO built in a very popular IP, one that many enjoy and take pride in very much, albeit maybe too much ownership at times, and you get to play in your favorite world in a whole new way and all some want is just another copy of whats been done with online co-op added? I'm not talking from an MMO player pov or a TES fan pov, from a gamer pov thats just not what I thought gaming was about. It should be about wanting innovation and new games to try not same old same old with different skins.

This isn't new and they are using old mechanics found in all our past and presant MMO's, perhaps they have a twist or been polished.
But there is nothing new or innovation going on here for 'The Elder Scrolls'. It's only a new MMO with a new theme that is familiar like Star Wars.

And you all noticed how well that game went even tho it has story and universe.

If you made The Elder Scrolls RPG have a 2 player option or more, well - that would be new and not the same old.
Because how many of you could point out just one, one.. real RPG that has a complete open world for 2 players with story and everything, there is none.

You didn't even play the game. You just don't want to realize that TESO is a different game than TES: Morrowind, Oblivion or Skyrim.
