Hammerfell and Skyrim Alliance?

Post » Tue Feb 05, 2013 5:05 pm

So one thing I got to wondering about, if Ulfric were to successfully liberate Skyrim from the Legion, does anyone think it'd be likely that Hammerfell would ally with Skyrim in taking the fight to the Dominion? I mean, both would be independant from the Empire, so they'd need every 'common cause ally' they can get no?

If Skyrim were to liberate, Ulfric would be stupid not to ally with both Hammerfell AND the Empire.

It would also be stupid to go gungho into the war. He'd have to rebuild his forces just like the Empire was doing. He drove Eastmarch broke, for example. He needs to fix that. So by the time he's ready the Empire might be wavin it's flag already.

And we don't know how stable Hammerfell is going to be. The Thalmor might start another Crown/Forbear civil war to stunt its growth. Not to mention they're still recovering from the devastating losses they sustained when fighting off the Dominion.

Skyrim could never defeat the dominon on their own. They would definitely have to ally themselves with other provinces. He would really have to stir the empire in rebeling against the aldmeric dominion. Since he's dedicated to wiping out the empire in skyrim, I don't think that's happening. He's destined to fail wether he won the civil war or not.

I agree. Galmar says they'd rebuild Skyrim, then take the fight to the Dominion, but I wonder what the Stormcloak's view of 'rebuild' is. As for Hammerfell, I imagine it's sort of a tough guerilla state in some senses. Those soldiers in the one quest seem to indicate Hammerfell is in a struggle with the Dominion ever since they suceeded from the Empire. So apparently the Thalmor are going after them. Honestly though, I'm baffled how a small isle like Summerset Isles has the power to drive down multiple peoples. I think it'd be greater if the other races (Including non-zealous Altmer) sort of did a 'Last Alliance' fight against the Aldmeri Dominion. It's obvious they won't stop until they are supreme, so every race has a common goal to stop them unless they want to be enslaved by the Thalmor. I mean, it's obvious the Empire isn't a fan of the Talos ban, they used to turn a blind eye to it until Ulfric started rabble rousing. I think an alliance to take them down would do the world a favour, but I guess the TES lore writers wouldnt think so.

@Nip- Missed the point of the thread. It's a 'what if' on if Ulfric were to attain control of Skyrim.

Hammerfell actually isn't under siege anymore. They signed a treaty, and the Dominion pulled out. That doesn't mean the Thalmor isn't doing what they do best though, sabotage and subterfuge. However we don't have anything that says that's the case.

The Thalmor are so powerful because they're the Thalmor. Sabotage and Subterfuge. The Dominion is their arm, and they're the brain.

If Skyrim wants to survive against the Dominion, they will have forge an alliance with the Empire and Hammerfell. Skyrim cannot stand on its own.

That's partly the reason why I joined the Empire. Together they can win.

True. I just see them as a vile thing. I mean, I support the Empire since I can see their plight, and why Mede signed the WGC, but anytime I kill a Thalmor, and doing Diplomatic Immunity, it gives me so much satisfaction. The Dominion is the worst type of people. They basically assaulted Hammerfell because they refused to bow to them. Kind of makes me baffles how any non-Altmer can sympathise with the Thalmor's agenda. But I suppose that anyone with a political idea is bound attract one follower.

@Titan- The problem is, I doubt the Empire could align with Skyrim, given their outspoken views on the Thalmor, where as the Empire is trying to bide its time and resources for the inevitable Great War ll.

Well, if you're anti-creation than you're pro-Thalmor. They can also lie and use propaganda.
